TYLER, TEXAS – A slow moving first half turned into an exciting final 45 minutes of action as UT Tyler and Angelo State battled it out to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon in Tyler.
Both teams combined for just six shots in the opening half, and then each picked up the pace by a noticeable margin in what turned into an electric final half of play. Senior
Jordan Colbert scored her second penalty kick goal in as many games less than two minutes coming out of the halftime break to provide the scoring for the Patriots.
Angelo State responded less than five minutes later with a goal on what stood as one of their few chances on the afternoon on a deflected free kick in the box that was chipped over the head of UT Tyler keeper
Camri Cecil. Cecil and the Patriot defense was otherwise sound throughout the match, as Cecil was credited with seven saves despite truly facing a quality chance from the Rambelles.
The seven saves stands as a season high for the senior Patriot keeper.
The two sides combined for 23 foul calls in the second half in a true test for both sides vying for positioning in the 2022 Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Championship at season's end. Angelo State held the final shot advantage by a 10-to-7 margin in what was largely a defensive slugfest throughout the 90 minutes of action.
UT Tyler managed to maintain the majority of the possession for the match, and fought hard to prevent any counter attacks against a dangerous Angelo State attack.

Brooklyn Robinson notched the additional two attempts on target for the Patriots alongside the Colbert penalty kick.
UT Tyler will finish Saturday no worse than in a tie for seventh place in the LSC standings with four matches remaining on the schedule. The Patriots have totaled 10 points in LSC play with a record of 2-2-4.
UT Tyler will stay at home on Wednesday night for a 5 p.m. start against St. Edward's.
