Several from Patriots Tennis Ranked in ITA Regional Rankings

UT Tyler has five singles players and four doubles teams ranked in the latest edition of the ITA South Central Regional Rankings.

TYLER, TEXAS – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released their men's and women's national and regional rankings today and the Patriots have several entries from both the men's and women's teams as they look forward to the spring semester.

Joaquin Bianchi and Gonzalo Fernandez Gil lead off the rankings for the men. After a fall season in which they qualified as a doubles pair for the ITA Cup, the pair is ranked sixth in all of Division II by the ITA. Bianchi is the lone Patriots player ranked nationally in singles, coming in at number 26.

Bianchi is also the third ranked player in the South Central Region, ranking only behind Martins Abamu and Takumi Katsuda. Fernandez Gil ranks in sixth, and the pair also ranks as the top doubles team in the South Central region.

Joining Bianchi and Fernandez Gil in the regional singles rankings is Yudai Watanabe. Watanabe sits at number 16 after a strong run at the ITA South Central Regional Tournament.

Watanabe paired up with Jonas Dixon to create another strong duo at the ITA South Central Regional Tournament, and they combine to be the fourth ranked doubles team in the region.

Over on the women's side, they are led in singles by Tanvikhaa Saravanan who ranks as the eighth best singles player in the region. Joining Saravanan is Brooklyn Ross, who ranks in the 15th spot.

In doubles, it is the combination of Gaini Ibrasheva and Chloe Dix who rank fourth in the region after their strong performances this fall. They are joined in the doubles rankings by the combination of Ross and Saravanan who rank eighth in the South Central region.

UT Tyler will be back on the court in the spring semester for their dual match season as they look to continue the success of the 2022 season in which the men's team won the LSC Tournament and the women made their first ever appearance in the LSC Semifinals.
