Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. – The University of Texas at Tyler men's basketball team forced double overtime on Friday night against Oklahoma Christian before ultimately falling by an 87-76 final tally.
Barnell Davis connected on a three-pointer with 13 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 62-62 to send the ballgame into a first overtime period that would end still tied after
Mohamed Diallo converted a free-throw attempt with 10 seconds left. Diallo's make on the backend of the free throw opportunities allowed the Patriots to force a second overtime despite trailing for essentially the entirety of the first overtime before tying the game at 70-70.
Oklahoma Christian went on to outscore UT Tyler 17-to-6 over the final five minutes to secure the double overtime victory. Senior
Rashun Williams scored 19 points in the second half and overtime periods combined to finish with 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists on the night.
Guard
Terrell Wilson added 12 points and six rebounds, and senior
Milan Szabo rounded out the majority of the Patriot offense with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Oklahoma Christian maintained a lead for over 37 minutes of game action and held the advantage for the first 16 minutes of the second half before a Williams lay-up with 4:27 left on the clock gave UT Tyler their first lead since the first five minutes of the game. Oklahoma Christian maintained control in the early stages of the second half after padding a 33-28 halftime lead before a 7-0 run for the Patriots beginning at the 6:09 mark concluded with the go-ahead Wiliams bucket with just over four minutes remaining in the game.
The Eagles slowed the Patriots over the final minutes of regulation, and built a 62-59 lead with 25 seconds remaining before Davis effectively sent the game into overtime with a picture-perfect catch-and-shoot three-point make with 13 seconds left.
Oklahoma Christian went on a 6-2 run in the first four-plus minutes of the first overtime to lead 70-64 with 1:31 remaining. UT Tyler answered with six unanswered points, a three-pointer from Williams and then a trio of free throws from Diallo, to force a second overtime.
Diallo went 2-for-2 from the line with 13 seconds left in what would be the first of two trips to the charity stripe, and then drew a foul trailing 70-69 on the rebound after two free throw misses from Oklahoma Christian. Diallo missed his first attempt, but rattled in the second shot to tie the game at 70-70.
UT Tyler ran out of magic in the ensuing five minutes, and drops their third straight contest to close out the 2022 calendar year. The Patriots fall to 6-3 overall and 2-3 in Lone Star Conference play.
UT Tyler shot just 32.9 percent (24-for-73) from the field, and just 4-of-22 (18.2 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. Oklahoma Christian went 32-for-64 (50.0 percent) for the ball game, and won the rebounding battle by a 49-to-43 margin.

Jordan Love finished with nine points and
Jordan Hairston with eight points. Sophomore
Kyle Frelow chipped in seven rebounds.
UT Tyler will have a chance to snap their three-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon in a 3 p.m. meeting at UAFS.
