UT Tyler Baseball Holds at Sixth in South Central Region Rankings

The Patriots are number six again this week after playing to a 4-3 record from Feb. 1-13

TYLER, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler baseball program sits at number six in the first regular season NCBWA South Central Region poll of the year after being ranked number six in the preseason poll.
 
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Central Region Poll is voted on by a committee of 10 members with five coming from the LSC and five from the RMAC.
 
As of the poll's release, the Patriots hold a record of 4-3 on the season after a series split with #5 Angelo State and a 2-1 series advantage over Texas A&M International in the first two weekends of the regular season. This poll was released with all games being tallied from Feb. 1-13 and before the Patriots won their season finale against the Dustdevils. 
 
The Patriots sit at third in the LSC in batting average as a team, batting .293. The program is also third in team ERA, sitting at 4.15 through their first seven games.
 
Ethan Bedgood is eighth in the LSC in batting average at .444 and is first amongst the LSC in slugging percentage at .889.
 
Colorado Mesa continued to hold on to the top spot after going 4-0 over the first two weekends. West Texas A&M slid into number two after a 6-0 start. Angelo State comes in at number three after going 6-2 over their first eight games. Colorado School of Mines and Lubbock Christian round out the top five after not being ranked in the top 10 last week.

The Patriots will hit the road this weekend for a four game series against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Game one is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Game two and three will be a doubleheader that is set to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Following the first three games, the final game of the series will come on Sunday at 1 p.m.
