TYLER, TEXAS – The #18 University of Texas at Tyler men's tennis program and the University of Texas at Tyler women's program will each have chances to get big wins this weekend as they battle against RV Harding, Southeastern Oklahoma State, and Stephen F. Austin.
SERIES HISTORY
The Patriots have each faced off against RV Harding just once in school history, with the women's team taking their only matchup, and the men's team losing their only match. Both of those contests came in the 2020-2021 season on Jan. 29. This season's contest will also be a neutral site match to take place in Dallas, Texas.
UT Tyler has battled against Southeastern Oklahoma State three times each for both programs, and the first contest came all the way back in 2007 in Durant, Oklahoma. The Storm took both men's and women's matches on that day, but have lost both women's matches since then. The Storm have taken all three contests against the Patriots men's program.
On Sunday, the UT Tyler women's program will head to Nacogdoches, Texas to take on Stephen F. Austin for the first time in program history. The two schools were scheduled to play back on March 5, 2011 but the match was cancelled.
THE SCOUTING REPORT
RV Harding's men's tennis program has played just two matches this season, but sit at 2-0 with a victory over #24 Drury. The women's program for the Bisons sits at 1-2 on the season and their lone victory came against Ouachita Baptist.
Southeastern Oklahoma State men's tennis has played just one contest this season, and that came against LSC competitor UT Permian Basin. The Storm came away with a 6-1 victory in that match. The Storm's women's tennis program has also played just one contest this season, and that also came against the Falcons and they also won by a score of 6-1.
Stephen F. Austin's women's program has played to a record of 3-3 thus far in the season. This will be the first non-Divison I competition of the season for the Lumberjacks, and the first non-exhibition Division I competition for UT Tyler.
ON THE HORIZON
Following the busy weekend for both programs, both teams will have just one match remaining in the month of February. Both programs will take on Abilene Christian on the road in Abilene, Texas on Feb. 26.
Those contests will be followed by a matchup against #19 Southwest Baptist in Wichita Falls, Texas on March 5
th.
