Box Score 2 DALLAS, TEXAS – The UT Tyler tennis program collected their fourth consecutive sweep as both the men and women battled their way to victories over DBU on Saturday afternoon.
On the ladies side, DBU got the match started by claiming victory in the #1 doubles slot as they handed
Leony Deutschmann and
Kanika Sivaraman a 6-3 defeat. That put the Patriots down 1-0 in the doubles portion and they would need to win both doubles matches remaining to win a point.
Up stepped
Delara Zamani and
Chloe Chawner. They delivered a big 6-3 victory of their own to bounce the Patriots right back into a 1-1 tie to bring the doubles point down to match #3. That match pitted
Chloe Dix and
Brooklyn Ross together against DBU and they responded with a giant 6-2 victory to claim the first point of the day in favor of UT Tyler.
Over in singles, it was the Patriots who looked to quickly clinch the match. Sivaraman stepped up in the #3 single slot and earned a dominant 6-3, 6-0 victory to put another point on the board. Ross followed in the #4 singles slot and put the third point on the board for the Patriots with a 7-6, 6-2 win. That put UT Tyler just one point away from officially claiming victory.
Dnyanada Patil was the Patriot who got the chance to earn the win. She never missed the mark as she earned a 6-2, 6-1 straight sets victory to seal the win for UT Tyler over DBU.
The win today makes it four consecutive victories for UT Tyler in their LSC schedule.
On the men's side of the dual match, the Patriots earned three quick and decisive doubles victories to set the ton for the entire match as they went up 1-0 in points.
Gonzalo Fernandez Gil and Mortiz Mayer quickly dispatched their competition by a score of 6-0. They were quickly followed by
Joaquin Bianchi and
Jonas Dixon winning 6-2 and then
Safar Rasulov and
Yudai Watanabe claimed the third match by a score of 6-4.
After claiming the doubles point, the Patriots set their eyes on the singles side of the match. Bianchi stepped up in the #1 singles slot just as he has all season and delivered yet another victory by set scores of 7-5, 7-5.
Following Bianchi was Fernandez Gil in the #2 singles slot, who had one of the biggest wins of the day as he defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-1. Mayer came along in the #3 position and earned his victory 6-3, 6-1. Those two victories put UT Tyler up 3-0, and on the verge of collecting a win.
With the match on the ropes for DBU, Rasulov, Watanabe, and Dixon came on in the #4, #5, and #6 singles positions, respectively. Rasulov came away with a 6-3, 6-1 win, Watanabe bested the performance from Fernandez Gil with a 6-0, 6-0 win, and Dxon ran out with a 6-4, 6-0 victory to leave no double for UT Tyler on the day.
This marks the third consecutive 7-0 win for the Patriots as they continue to remain undefeated in their LSC schedule.
The Patriots will be right back in action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. as they will battle it out with Midwestern State. On the women's side, the Mustangs are ranked 43
rd in all of Division II and are ranked 40
th in the men's side in Division II.
