LAREDO, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw in a defensive battle on Wednesday night against Texas A&M International.

The Patriots picked up an ever-important point in Lone Star Conference play in a difficult midweek trip to Laredo behind a clean sheet from keeper Camri Cecil and a rock-solid outing by the UT Tyler defense. The Patriot offense generated the majority of their chances on corner kicks and set pieces, holding the corner kick advantage 6-to-1 over the Dustdevils.

Cecil made three saves on the night while UT Tyler outshot Texas A&M International by a 13-to-7 margin, including five attempts that made their way on target. Junior Alexia Moreira had the first true chance of the match for the Patriots on a free kick that was saved by Dustdevils keeper Fabiana Solano in the 15th minute minute.

The Patriot defense stood strong against five Dustdevil shot attempts in the opening 45 minutes of action, two of which were saved by Cecil.

UT Tyler took control in the second half, outshooting the Dustdevils by a 9-to-2 margin in the half, but managed just a pair of shot attempts on target. The match proved to be a physical display for both sides, as a total of 39 foul attempts were recorded by the two sides combined.

Moreira and junior Sydnee Garner led the Patriots with three shot attempts for the match, while senior Brooklyn Robinson applied the pressure on the Dustdevil keeper with a pair of shot attempts off of corner opportunities for the Patriots.

The scoreless draw earns each side a point towards the LSC standings, and brings UT Tyler's record to 6-1-1 on the year.

UT Tyler will return home for their annual Alumni Day on Saturday afternoon against Oklahoma Christian at 1 p.m.
