TYLER, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler women's soccer team tallied a second straight 0-0 tie on Saturday afternoon against Oklahoma Christian despite a host of quality second-half chances in the match.
The Patriots put seven shots on target in the match, including five in the final 45 minutes of play against an Oklahoma Christian team that was propelled by an outstanding performance by keeper Gabby Goddard. Senior
Samaris Alvarado had a shot on target saved on a breakaway opportunity in the 52
nd minute, and then gained a penalty kick for the Patriots after being taken down in the box by the Lady Eagle keeper on the rebound.

Jordan Colbert's attempt on that penalty kick was stopped via a diving save by Goddard to keep the match scoreless. Senior
Edina Cakic then had a third golden opportunity stopped by Goddard on a free shot on net off of a beautiful cross just a few minutes later.
UT Tyler kept the offensive pressure going at the midway point of the second half, as junior
Sydnee Garner rattled a shot off the top crossbar in the 64
th minute. The Patriots totaled 11 shot attempts in the second half, and 19 shots for the match, and managed to pick up a point in Lone Star Conference play with their second consecutive scoreless draw.
Sophomore
Faith Adje had six shot attempts for the Patriots, two of which were on target, and joined Cakic and Colbert with two shot on goal attempts for the match.
The Patriot defense prevented a quality chance to the opposition for a second-straight match, allowing just six Lady Eagle shots, three of which were on target. Senior keeper
Camri Cecil recorded her second-straight clean sheet with saves on all three of those Lady Eagles shot attempts on net in the opening half.
UT Tyler is now 6-1-2 on the year after two 0-0 ties this week against Texas A&M International and Oklahoma Christian. The lone defeat on the year for the Patriots came in a 1-0 loss at the hands of #1 DBU.
The Patriots will head to Canyon, Texas on Saturday afternoon for their next match against no. 10 nationally-ranked West Texas A&M.
