TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler men's tennis has climbed their way into the top 25 of the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings after a 1-0 start to the spring season.
The Patriots in that one match came away with a huge win over then #15 Northwest Missouri State by a score of 4-3 after battling back from dropping the doubles point and winning four of the six singles matches.
Despite the tight doubles losses from
Joaquin Bianchi /
Gonzalo Fernandez Gil and
Jonas Dixon /
Carel Wessel, the Patriots kicked it into gear in singles as Bianchi and Wessel ran away with straight set wins to set the tone of the match. Fernandez Gil would deliver the deciding point for UT Tyler after a three set thriller to move the Patriots into the win column.
UT Tyler continues their season this weekend as they take on two top 25 teams in Ouachita Baptist and Southern Arkansas, but they begin their trip with a neutral site battle with Harding on Friday.
