SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – UT Tyler gave #24 Angelo State a scare despite a 70-64 loss on Saturday afternoon.

Jordan Hairston dropped a season-high 19 points and UT Tyler held a 37-36 lead at the halftime break before the Rams defense stiffened in the second half. The Patriots went just 8-for-22 (36.3 percent) from the field in the final 20 minutes of basketball while Angelo State scored 34 to secure the six-point victory.
The Patriots kept it close at 53-53 with 5:31 remaining in the game, but a 17-11 run for the Rams from that point forward gave Angelo State the win.
Hairston finished his afternoon 6-for-13 from the field and 3-for-8 from beyond the three-point arc, and was joined in double-digit scoring figures by seniors
Milan Szabo (16) and Mohammed Diallo (11). Sophomore
Kyle Frelow led the rebounding effort with six.
Angelo State finished the afternoon 25-for-54 (46.3 percent) from the field and 9-for-20 (45.0 percent) from beyond the three-point line.
UT Tyler will finish the season with back-to-back games against DBU on Thursday and Saturday. Thursday's game will take place at DBU, and Saturday's game inside the Herrington Patriot Center at 3 p.m.
