Box Score 2 YOUNG HARRIS, GEORGIA - #8 UT Tyler men's tennis and UT Tyler women's tennis collected decisive wins on Wednesday against Young Harris as the men moved their winning streak to nine matches and the women collected their third win in four matches.

The men saw their backs get pushed against the wall to begin doubles play, as the #36 ranked Mountain Lions took doubles match three by a score of 6-4 to move just one match from claiming the doubles point. Needing a big push,
Gonzalo Fernandez Gil and
Egor Shestakov led the charge, putting the Patriots on the board with a 6-4 win to tie up the doubles matches at 1-1.

That left the doubles point up to match two, and
Joaquin Bianchi and
Carel Wessel didn't disappoint, coming away with a 7-5 win to claim the win and move to singles with a 1-0 lead.

Jordi Garcia Portell got the Patriots momentum rolling in singles, as he worked a 6-1, 6-1 straight sets match in dominant fashion to put the second point of the day on the board.

Just about 20 minutes later,
Yudai Watanabe delivered his own win for the Patriots, a 6-2, 6-1 win in decisive fashion to put UT Tyler on match point just over an hour into the singles matches.

The team didn't have to wait long for that final point, as both Bianchi and Fernandez Gil held big leads in both of their matches in the second set. Bianchi would finish first, finishing his match with a 6-3, 6-2 win in the #1 singles slot. Fernandez Gil claimed his victory just six minutes later, closing out his match with sets of 6-3, 6-2 in the #2 slot.

The final match win of the day for the #8 UT Tyler men came in singles slot #3, as Shestakov was locked in a tight battle. After a first set win of 6-3, he was forced into a tiebreaker to decide set two, but calmly came away with a 7-2 win in that tiebreaker to claim the win.

On the women's side of the match, UT Tyler took control early in the doubles matches and never looked back as they swept doubles action to take the 1-0 lead into singles.
Violetta Khisamova and
Brooklyn Ross started with a 6-2 win, and both pairs of
Allison Schwartz /
Akshaya Suresh and
Tanvikhaa Saravanan /
Kanika Sivaraman delivered wins of 6-3 and 6-4, respectively.

Moving into singles, it was Schwartz who set the tone for the match, taking a 6-3, 6-2 win in slot #4 that took just under an hour to complete. That match moved the Patriots to a 2-0 lead, and they were trending towards a quick win.

In the #1 and #2 slots, Ross and Saravanan raced to see who would finish first, but it was Ross who delivered one of the most dominant performances of the day, coming away with a 6-1, 6-2 dominant victory to move the Patriots to match point.

That match point would be decided just six minutes later, as Saravanan closed down her match with a strong second set in a 6-4, 6-1 win to give UT Tyler the win.

The final two wins of the day for the Patriots women came in the #3 and #6 slots as Khisamova and
Dnyanada Patil came away with wins. Khisamova was forced into a tiebreaker in set one, a 9-7 win that went her way, before dispatching her opponent with a 6-3 win in set two. For Patil, she trounced her opponent 6-2 in the first set, but then was forced into a tiebreaker of her own before claiming the 8-6 win.

Both Patriots teams will now face the Lee Flames on Thursday in their final matchup of spring break. The men's team at Lee is ranked #9 in the ITA Rankings, and the women's team sits at #37.
