LOUISVILLE, KY. – The University of Texas at Tyler softball program maintained their standing at no. 3 in the latest NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
The Patriots received 368 total votes in what was an unchanged top-five for the second week in a row. North Georgia had it's 38-game winning streak snapped last week, narrowing the gap between them and no. 2 Tampa in the no. 1 and no. 2 spots of this week's poll, while UT Tyler (no. 3), Central Oklahoma (no. 4) and UAH (no. 5) all stayed the same.
The 2023 NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches with two representing each of the eight NCAA regions.
UT Tyler was idle last week after their weekend home series with Texas A&M-Kingsville was rescheduled for April 25-26 due to weather in the Tyler area.
The Patriots are 37-4 on the year and have reeled off 14 straight wins and six straight 3-0 Lone Star Conference series sweeps. UT Tyler sits atop the Lone Star Conference regular season standings with a record of 25-2, and will look to claim a third straight LSC Regular Season Championship throughout the final month of the regular season.
UT Tyler (no. 3), Lubbock Christian (no. 10) and West Texas A&M (no. 14) remained as the three representatives from the Loen Star Conference within the national top 25. The Patriots are 12-4 on the year against teams associated with the NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.
UT Tyler entered the 2023 NFCA Division II Top 25 Preseason Coaches Poll in the no. 3 spot and have maintained their positioning within the national top-five in all nine regular season polls. The Patriots held the no. 1 spot in 13 out of the 14 regular season NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches polls in 2022, and unanimously sat atop the poll in eight of those weeks.
The Patriots kick off a midweek LSC series this afternoon on the road at St. Mary's.
