Box Score TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's tennis battled it out with #35 Midwestern State on Tuesday and gave them all they could handle throughout the match as they fell by just one point.
In doubles, it was a Patriots landslide as they connected on a clean sweep of the doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead. Both pairs of

Kanika Sivaraman rolled to 6-0 wins in less than 15 minutes. They were followed by the pair of
Allison Schwartz and
Akshaya Suresh who claimed a 7-6 win after a tiebreaker to ensure the Patriots sweep.
With the early 1-0 lead, the Patriots turned their attention over to singles, where all but one match would head into three sets.
The first match to finish was #1 singles, as
Brooklyn Ross battled it out. The first set would go the Mustangs way, but Ross came right back with a 6-0 win. In the deciding third set, it would be the Mustangs as they finished off a 6-0 win to claim their first point.
Schwartz got things going back in the Patriots direction in the #4 slot, as she also battled back from a 6-3 first set defeat with a 6-2 win of her own. In the third set, it was Schwartz who took over on her way to a 6-2 win and give the Patriots a 2-1 lead.
The Mustangs again would take the first set in both #2 and #3 singles, but the Patriots again battled back as Saravanan completed a 6-2 second set win and Khisamova collected a 6-4 win to both even their matches.
In the #2 slot, the Mustangs would hold the upper hand, as they finished off their second point with a 6-4 win to even the match. Just minutes later, Khisamova polished off a 6-4 win to take the match and put the Patriots on match point.
In #5 singles, Sivaraman would force the first set into a tiebreaker, and that tiebreaker took extra points as she continued to battle throughout the set. A 7-6 decision would ultimately fall the Mustangs way, and they would follow it up with a 6-4 win to close out the match and even the score at 3-3.
In #6 singles, Suresh would fall 6-2 in her opening set and the Patriots would have their backs against the wall. However, she rallied with a big 7-6 win of her own to put the Patriots back in position. In the third and deciding set, the two athletes would battle to a 3-3 tie before the Mustangs took the final three games and claimed the deciding win.
For the Patriots, they fall to 11-8 on the season and 5-3 in LSC play. They will have two matches left, both this weekend, as they head south to take on Texas A&M-Kingsville and #22 Angelo State for their final matches of the regular season.
