Box Score SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's tennis fell to 12-9 overall and 6-4 in LSC play on Saturday as they dropped their regular season finale to Angelo State on the road.
Allison Schwartz and
Akshaya Suresh would run out to a dominant 6-1 win in #1 doubles as they looked to spur the Patriots to early momentum. However, the Rambelles would answer with a win in #3 doubles to even the score at 1-1.
In the final match of the doubles point,
Brooklyn Ross and
Violetta Khisamova would battle tightly but fall just short at a score of 7-5 to allow #30 Angelo State to take the 1-0 lead heading into singles.
In those singles matches, Schwartz would again look to spur on the Patriots as she rolled by a score of 6-3, 6-4 to point the first point on the board for UT Tyler in #4 singles.
The Rambelles had an answer though, as they took a narrow 6-3, 7-6 win in #2 singles over
Tanvikhaa Saravanan to put them back out in front by a score of 2-1.
In #1 singles, #30 Angelo State again posted a straight sets win of 6-4, 6-2 to put them on match point for the day.
In #6 singles, the Rambelles got the final point they were looking for, as they won by scores of 6-1, 6-0 to claim their fourth point necessary for the win. The team would go on to claim two more wins by way of retirement, and eventually claimed a 6-1 win over the Patriots.
For UT Tyler, they now set their sights on the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament beginning on April 20 and ending on April 22. That tournament will see the Patriots as the #5 seed and take on the #4 seed that has yet to be determined due to a three way tie for second place.
