TYLER, TEXAS – Abeni Kratzmeyer,
Brooklyn House, and
Ty McDaniel are going through their last stretches of preparation as they look to compete at a high level at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships mark the first time that the Patriots will be sending three athletes to compete in the Division II era of the program.
HOW WE GOT HERE
For
Abeni Kratzmeyer, she would post her NCAA qualifying mark in the women's pole vault. Her best vault of the season came at the J Fred Duckett Twilight Meet on April 22, as she posted a mark of 4.02 meters on her way to the 10
th best mark nationally. Kratzmeyer during the outdoor season has taken home four victories, including her second consecutive LSC title at the 2023 LSC Outdoor Championships on May 6.
Brooklyn House will make her mark at the NCAA Championships in the women's discus throw and is making her first NCAA Championships appearance. House comes in with the 18
th best mark in the country at a distance of 46.90 meters. That season best came at the East Texas Invitational on April 14. For the season in the discus throw, House has finished outside the top 10 on just two occasions, and also has an event victory to her name.
Ty McDaniel will also be making his first ever NCAA Championships appearance, and his will be in the men's hammer throw. McDaniel posted the 19
th best mark in all of Division II at 60.14 meters at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi back on April 6. On the season, he has placed outside the top five just one time, and has five podium finishes to go along with one event victory.
THE MEET
This year's NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Pueblo, Colorado on the campus of CSU Pueblo. This is the first time since 2013 that CSU-Pueblo will play host to the outdoor championships. CSU Pueblo will host the championships inside the CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl which is one of the premier football and track & field facilities in Division II. The facility features 6,500 seats, a 10 lane track, and throwing, jumping, and pole vault lanes.
This weekend's schedule will see all three Patriots compete on three different days of competition.
Ty McDaniel will kick things off as he competes in the men's hammer throw at approximately 4:30 p.m. central time on Thursday.
Brooklyn House will follow him, as she gets rolling at approximately 3 p.m. central time on Friday afternoon. The last Patriot to compete will be
Abeni Kratzmeyer, as she will be in the first event of the day on Saturday at approximately 12 p.m. in the women's pole vault.
