TYLER, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler softball team was selected as the no. 1 seed in the 2023 NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament as announced during the online selection show on Monday morning.
The no. 1 seeded Patriots will host no. 4 Oklahoma Christian, no. 5 Lubbock Christian and no. 8 St. Edward's at Irwin Ballpark.
The four teams will square off in a double-elimination bracket beginning on Thursday afternoon, with the winner advancing to the 2023 NCAA Division II Super Regionals. The Patriots enter their second appearance in the NCAA Division II National Tournament with an overall record of 54-4 on the year.
UT Tyler earned automatic qualification into the national tournament field as winners of the 2023 Lone Star Conference Softball Championship Tournament after claiming their third straight LSC Regular Season Title with a 39-2 mark in LSC play.
West Texas A&M was selected as the other host site as the no. 3 seed, and will host no. 2 Colorado Christian, no. 6 Cameron and no. 7 St. Mary's in Canyon, Texas.
