Ella Anderson scored twice while
Natalie Jones and
Katelyn Walerczyk both had a goal and an assist to pave the way for a 4-0 win over UT Permian Basin.
UT Tyler put the game away early in the second half after Walerczyk and Anderson put the third and fourth goals on the board for the Patriots. The no-doubt victory gives UT Tyler their eighth win of the season, the highest single season win total in the Division II era for the program, and marks a fourth straight result in Lone Star Conference play.
The Patriots sit in a three-way tie for third place in the LSC standings with 11 points and have managed an 8-1-2 record overall.
Jones started the onslaught of goals for UT Tyler in the 19
th minute after the Patriots maintained nearly sole control of the possession in the first 20 minutes of action. Jones finished a corner opportunity off the head of Walerczyk to break the scoreless tie with her team-high sixth goal of the season.
Anderson doubled the lead less than a minute before the halftime break with a well-placed shot from just inside the midfield line, past the outstretched arms of the Falcon keeper. UT Tyler out-shot UT Permian Basin 9-0 in the first half of action, taking a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
Walerczyk made a clean volley into the back of the net off another corner opportunity for UT Tyler in the 51
st minute for the third Patriot goal of the afternoon. The McKinney, Texas native was unmarked at the top of the Falcon box and put away a clean finish off of a service from
Mackenzee Stokes.
Anderson's second goal of the game put the finishing touches off of a dominant performance for the Patriots, scoring a near breakaway opportunity after excellent through balls from
Samaris Alvarado and Jones in the 64
th minute.
Keeper
Robbi Curry made five saves in her 34 minutes in goal in the second half, including a handful of highlighted diving stops in the early goings of her appearance to combine with
Emily Clark for the clean sheet.
Anderson notched her second and third goals of the season while Jones and Walerczyk both notched three points with a goal and an assist. Alvarado and Stokes added assists to their season totals as well.
UT Tyler finished the game with a 17-to-7 advantage in the shot department and maintained the majority of possession for all 90 minutes of play. The Patriots had seven corner kick opportunities, two of which led to goals.
The Patriots will return to the road on Wednesday evening for a 7 p.m. match at Texas A&M International.
