TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler men's tennis is back on the national scene yet again as several players have earned national rankings as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Wednesday.
Leading off the rankings is none other than
Carel Wessel. Wessel qualified for the ITA Cup in both singles and doubles this fall, and has been rewarded with the #11 singles ranking across Division II.
In doubles, he pairs up with partner
Daniil Felker to create the #16 doubles team in Division II. The pair qualified for the ITA Cup this fall and became just the second doubles team in the Division II era of the program to make the ITA Cup.
Joining Wessel and Felker in the doubles rankings is
Jordi Garcia Portell and
Arthur Miquelard. That Patriots pair made their run to the quarterfinals of the ITA South Central Region Championships before being knocked out by Wessel and Felker.
In the latest ITA South Central Region Singles Rankings, Wessel takes the top spot after his ITA South Central Region Championship win. He is joined in the top 20 by teammates
Daniil Felker (#8) and
Malo Poulesquen (#11).
In doubles, Wessel and Felker hold the top spot in those ITA South Central Region Doubles Rankings, with
Jordi Garcia Portell and
Arthur Miquelard combining for the #3 ranking.
