TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler limited Dallas Christian to just nine made baskets from the field in an 82-25 win on Saturday afternoon.
The Patriots scored the first 17 points of the game and led 44-7 at the halftime break to cruise to a 3-0 start to the season.
Caitlyn Ryan (13) and Meleina Sablinskaite (10) led the Patriot offense, while Sablinskaite nearly reached triple-double figures with 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals in the game.
Dallas Christian went just 9-for-46 (19.6 percent) in the game from the field, committing 32 turnovers. UT Tyler turned 24 of those turnovers into steals.
The Patriots led by as many as 60 with 4:05 remaining in the final quarter. UT Tyler went 33-for-76 (43.4 percent) from the field and connected on 9-for-30 (30.0 percent) from three-point range.
All 12 players that saw court time in the game scored for UT Tyler. Ryan joined Sablinskaite with a double-double, adding a team-high 11 rebounds to her 13 points.
UT Tyler out-rebounded Dallas Christian by a 56-to-25 margin.
Sophomore
Polina Latysheva added eight points, while five different Patriots finished the afternoon with six points.
UT Tyler will play their first Lone Star Conference contest of the season at home next Saturday at 1 p.m. against #2 Texas Woman's.
