#20/RV Patriots Host #1/1 Texas Woman’s to Open LSC Play

It’s an all-ranked matchup inside the HPC on Saturday as both teams will play their first LSC contests of the season.

LAST TIME OUT

Last weekend, the Patriots hosted Dallas Christian in non-conference play and put together a dominant day, taking an 82-25 win over the Lady Crusaders. Caitlyn Ryan and Mileina Sablinskaite each recorded double-doubles in the win as the Patriots played 12 different players in the win. They held Dallas Christian to just 19.6% shooting from the floor and 11.8% from beyond the arc.

CLIMBING THE RANKINGS

After a 3-0 start, the Patriots have moved up to #20 in the latest edition of the D2CSC Rankings, up from #22 last week. Additionally, the Patriots remained (RV) in the latest edition of the WBCA Poll, staying the same as their preseason ranking released earlier this year.

BACK AND FORTH AFFAIRS

The matchup between Texas Woman's and UT Tyler this weekend is sure to be another great contest. In the nine previous meetings, Texas Woman's holds a 6-3 advantage. In the last six meetings however, the two teams have been 3-3, with the average margin of victory being just 7.16 points.

Texas Woman's holds the latest bragging rights, taking down the Patriots in the NCAA South Central Region Championship to advance to the Elite Eight last season, but the Patriots have won two of the last three matchups in the regular season.

WHAT COACH ALVIDREZ IS SAYING

On the win over Dallas Christian: "Yeah it was a way for us to get some others involved. A way for us to get others involved and get more comfortable and more involved in some situations and we wanted to work on some stuff, especially for our new players."

On the state of the team early in the season: "We're getting there. It's been about finding a rhythm and getting in sync. The returners know how things go and the expectations, but our newcomers have had some really bright moments and they're taking the right steps."

On the LSC slate opening this weekend: "It's been competitive. My focus is really just the locker room. Keep growing us and keep playing better than we have. Our focus is to keep building this team and coaching this team and helping them reach their goals that we have set out."
