LAST TIME OUT
 
The Patriots last took the court on Friday in Durango, Colorado against Fort Lewis, marking their first road game of the season. The Patriots knocked off the Skyhawks by a final score of 63-51 to push their record to 5-0. In the contest, four Patriots scored in double figures and the team shot 40% from the floor while holding the Skyhawks to just 34% from the floor.
 
HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS IN THE HPC
 
On Wednesday, the Patriots will host Holiday Hoopla inside the Herrington Patriot Center. There will be free cookies and hot chocolate, as well as an ugly sweater contest and various competitions throughout the evening. Additionally, there will be photo opportunities with Santa in the HPC lobby.
 
On Friday night, the Patriots are partnering with the UT Tyler Police Department for their annual Toy Drive Night. It will be free admission for anyone who brings an unwrapped toy for donation to those in need this holiday season.
 
PATRIOTS NOTES AND TRENDS
  • UT Tyler finished the 2023-24 season 27-9 overall and made their second consecutive NCAA Sweet 16. That win mark is tied for the most in the NCAA Division II era of the program.
  • Last season the Patriots finished 13-2 on their home floor and are now 4-0 this season, raising their mark to 39-6 under head coach Rebecca Alvidrez inside the Herrington Patriot Center.
  • In the last four seasons (including 2024-25), the Patriots are a combined 31-13 in non-conference matchups, including a 12-3 record at home in non-conference games.
  • Head Coach Rebecca Alvidrez is now 86-45 all time in her four season career, and she is 77-26 in her time at UT Tyler.
  • The early part of the year has shown the Patriots dominant defense again, as they rank nationally in field goal percentage defense (5th), scoring defense (5th), scoring margin (19th), three point percentage defense (8th), steals per game (24th), and turnovers forced per game (43rd). They rank first in the LSC in each category other than turnovers forced per game. In that category, they rank second.
 
LADY CHAPS NOTES AND TRENDS
  • Lubbock Christian rolls into this week at a record of 8-0 on the year and 2-0 in LSC matchups. Their two conference wins are over St. Edward's and Midwestern State, and they also have a win over (RV) UCCS.
  • The Lady Chaps average 71 points per game on 44.7% shooting and 37.5% from beyond the arc. They are holding opponents to 53.6 points per game on 34% shooting and 28.7% from beyond the arc.
  • They are led by All-American Grace Foster, who is averaging 22.4 points per game on 51.8% shooting. She leads the team in rebounds and blocks, and also shoots 44.7% from beyond the arc.
  • Head coach Steve Gomez leads the program and is in his 21st season, all with the Lady Chaps. He has put together a record of 513-139 over his career and has led the program to a pair of Division II National Championships.
 
MUSTANGS NOTES AND TRENDS
  • Midwestern State comes into the week at a record of 2-5 overall and 0-1 in LSC play. They are coming off of a win over UT Dallas on November 26th in their most recent game.
  • The Mustangs are averaging 58.1 points per game on 33.5% shooting from the field and 20.2% from beyond the arc. Their opponents are averaging 63.7 points per game on 38.7% shooting and 24.1% from beyond the arc.
  • Zarria Carter leads the program as she averages 19.3 points per game on 52.4% shooting. She leads the team with 12 rebounds per game and also leads the team in steals and blocks.
  • Head coach Brenita Jackson leads the team and is in her second season with the Mustangs. She holds a record of 9-26 with the Mustangs and a career record of 61-39 in her four seasons overall.
