TYLER, TEXAS – Angelo State rode a 23-6 lead less than 10 minutes into the game to a 64-47 win over UT Tyler on Saturday afternoon.

Ryan Zambie went 8-for-12 from the field to lead UT Tyler with 16 points and
Nikolas Gustavson connected on all three of the Patriots' three-pointers in the game to finish with 13. The rest of the UT Tyler offense combined for just 18 points on an afternoon in which the Patriots shot 33.3 percent (21-for-63) from the field.
Angelo State took advantage of the offensive woes for UT Tyler early in the contest, rattling off 10 points before the Patriots scored their first bucket of the game more than five minutes in. The Rams kept the pedal down, extending the advantage out to 23-4 before UT Tyler eventually ended the half on their smallest deficit of the first half at 37-29.
Angelo State scored the first eight points of the second half and maintained a double-digit lead from then on.
Zambie led UT Tyler with six rebounds on the afternoon. Junior
Bryce Roberts finished with eight points and five rebounds.
UT Tyler falls to 3-23 on the year and 2-18 in Lone Star Conference play.
