TYLER, TEXAS - #5 UT Tyler used a six-run bottom of the second inning to cruise to an 8-2 victory over Eastern New Mexico on Sunday afternoon.
Eastern New Mexico cut the 6-0 deficit to 6-2 with a pair of runs in the top of the third,but runs in the fifth and sixth for the Patriots allowed UT Tyler to stay in control for the entirety of the contest. The victory solidified a series victory for the Patriots and drew their record to 28-7 on the year and 19-5 in Lone Star Conference play.

Michelle Arias put the momentum solely into the hands of the Patriots with a three-run homer to get a big second inning for UT Tyler started. Classmate
Courtney Plocheck put two more runs on the board with an RBI single with the bases loaded to make it 5-0, before an
Audrey Escamilla single put the sixth and final run of the frame across a few batters later.
Junior
Kaylee Davis was credited with the win after taking over for starter
Christin Haygood in the top of the fourth inning. Haygood ran into trouble and conceded a two-RBI single for the lone two runs of the day for the Greyhounds.
Davis took over from that point, retiring the final batter in the fourth inning, and allowed just one hit throughout the remainder of her 4.1 innings of work to move to 9-0 on the year.

Sam Schott leadoff the bottom of the fifth inning with a double and then scored for the second time in the game on an RBI groundout from
Makayla Garcia. That 7-2 advantage turned into an 8-2 lead after a double steal for the Patriots in the bottom of the sixth allowed senior
Cassidi Mullen to score.
Davis retired Eastern New Mexico in order in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings and worked around a leadoff double in the sixth to keep Eastern New Mexico off the board.
UT Tyler managed eight hits as a club. Schott finished the day 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and Plocheck 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a run scored,
Arias notched three RBI and a run scored on her three-run homer.
UT Tyler will travel to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Thursday and Friday for their next Lone Star Conference series.
