SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – UT Tyler track and field will return to Tyler with plenty to build on after a phenomenal week at both the Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitational.
Action on Saturday took place at the Bobcat Invitational, where the Patriots got their day started in the women's high jump. There, it was
Juliane Frueh who punched her top 10 ticket with a high mark of 1.66 meters, narrowly missing the NCAA provisional mark. She placed seventh overall in the competition and just .05 meters out of second place.
Joining Frueh was teammate
Aerin Thompson, who placed 15
th overall after clearing a height of 1.61 meters on the day.
Over on the track, the Patriots first event was the men's 4x100 relay team consisting of
Jackson Crysup,
Nicholas Davis,
Tsegaya Fazarro, and MThabisi Mpofu. The quartet combined on a time of 41.43 to take 12
th overall on the day and finish less than a tenth of a second outside the top 10.
In the men's 110 meter hurdles,
Brandon Arenas picked up a 21
st overall placement after clearing a time of 14.51 seconds on the day.
The final event of the day and the best of possibly the weekend was the women's 4x400 meter relay, where
Isabel Jakobsen,
Jasmine Haywood,
Kamaria Carr, and
Aerin Thompson lined up for the Patriots. The group had already combined for a school record at the Texas Relays, but they shattered that record and posted the second fastest time in Division II this year as they raced around the track in a time of 3:40.25 at the Bobcat Invitational on Saturday.
UT Tyler now will get set for the David Nobles Relays next weekend in San Angelo, Texas.
