Patriots Wrap Up NCAA Indoor Championships with Trio of All-American Finishes

PITTSBURG, KANSAS – Abeni Kratzmeyer, Juliane Frueh, and Aerin Thompson will each bring home a USTFCCCA All-American award after strong finishes in their respective events at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The first Patriot on deck was Kratzmeyer, who took part in her second consecutive NCAA Indoor Championship meet. She started her day at a height of 3.77 meters, and took just one attempt to clear the bar.

She then moved into a height of 3.92 meters, where she took all three attempts to clear the bar. There, she was one of the final 11 athletes to move into a height of 4.02. She was unable to clear the bar at that height, and booked a ninth place finish in the event and earns USTFCCCA Second Team All-American honors.

Next up in the action for UT Tyler was freshman Juliane Frueh, She was competing the high jump competition in her first ever appearance at the NCAA Championships.

Frueh began her run on fire, clearing heights of 1.62, 1.67, and 1.72 in each of her first attempts to book her spot in the final five competitors. She would next take on a height of 1.75 meters, but would be unable to clear the height.

That height of 1.72 meters ensures a tie for fourth place in the competition, and earns Frueh a USTFCCCA First Team All-American honor.

The third and final athlete to compete for UT Tyler on the day was Aerin Thompson, who was also competing in her first ever NCAA Championships.

She took on the 400 meter competition, where she competed in heat number three. She ran a time of 54.28 in the event, securing a new UT Tyler school record in the process. Her time would finish just .005 seconds outside of the top eight and just missed on Saturday's finals. However, she will also earn USTFCCCA All-American honors for her efforts in competition.

The Patriots trio will now set their sights on the outdoor season, beginning with the TCU Alumni Invitational set for March 15 and 16 in Fort Worth, Texas.
