Box Score TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's tennis opened up their final weekend of the year at the Summers Tennis Center with a 4-3 defeat at the hands of #18 Angelo State on Friday.
The Rambelles took an early match in the #2 doubles line to take an early lead, However, the Patriots battled back in the #1 line, as
Muskan Gupta and
Yelena Kim battled closely, but the Rambelles took a 7-2 win in the tiebreaker to give them their second doubles win and a 1-0 lead.
The Patriots struck right back in singles, as
Allison Schwartz rolled to a 7-5, 6-2 straight sets win to even up the match. However, the Rambelles got straight set wins in both the #4 line and #1 line to move themselves ahead 3-1 with just three matches to play.
That final win would come in the #5 line, as they took another straight sets win to get to the magic number of four and claim the win.
In the remaining two matches, the Patriots stayed steady, as
Kanika Sivaraman battled her way through a three set thriller to take the win in scores of 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
Luisa Moraes in the #6 line would pull off her own thriller, as she battled back from a 1-6 first set loss to take a 6-3 win to force a tiebreaker. In that tiebreaker, she rolled to a 10-7 win to give the Patriots their third point of the day and make the final score 4-3.
UT Tyler will be back in action tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. at the Summers Tennis Center, as now they host Texas A&M-Kingsville in what will be their final LSC regular season contest.
