Box Score ENNIS, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's tennis closed out their 2024 campaign win one final win over Texas A&M-Kingsville by a score of 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The weather in Tyler forced the match to be moved to Ennis High School, and the Patriots rallied early to take the doubles point and a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
Muskan Gupta and
Yelena Kim combined for a 6-2 win in line #1, and
Elisa Buhagiar and
Kanika Sivaraman put together a dramatic 7-6 (7-2) tiebreaker win to seal the point in their favor.
Over in singles, the Patriots landslide began, as Sivaraman rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win in line #3 and
Allison Schwartz tacked on a three set 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 win in line #2 to quickly put the Patriots up 3-0 with just four matches remaining.
The final point would come from line #1, as
Muskan Gupta battled back from a 6-3 first set loss to bring in a 7-5 set two win and force a third set. In that third set, the two battled to a 3-3 score before Alessa Maier was unforturnately forced to retire, giving Gupta the win.
The Javelinas would add their lone point of the match in line #4, but the Patriots continued their dominant run as
Elisa Buhagiar put together a three set thriller in scores of 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (10-3) to add the fifth point.
The final point of the match came from line #6, where
Luisa Moraes completed a straight sets win by scores of 6-4, 6-4 to get the Patriots to a 6-1 final.
