A RICH HISTORY
In the last three seasons that the Patriots have competed in the LSC, they have claimed either the LSC Regular Season or LSC Tournament title. In 2021, the Patriots went undefeated in their first full year in the conference, going 7-0 and taking the LSC Regular Season crown before the LSC Tournament was rained out.
In 2022, the Patriots finished second in the LSC, losing just one match on the year to Midwestern State. They got their revenge, taking down the Mustangs in the LSC Tournament championship to take the top spot and the title.
In 2023, the Patriots went a perfect 8-0 in the LSC regular season, again taking the regular season crown for their second ever title.
After the final NCAA Division II transition year in 2021, the Patriots have since made the NCAA Round of 16 in each of the last two seasons, and will look to qualify yet again this season.
THE SCOUTING REPORT
Their first matchup this week sees them square off with #6 seed St. Mary's in the first round. It was a tight matchup earlier this year in San Antonio, as the Patriots narrowly took a 4-3 win.
The Rattlers swept the doubles matches and also took wins at the #3 and #4 lines, but the Patriots singles led by
Yudai Watanabe and
Jordi Garcia Portell led a comeback charge as
Joaquin Bianchi sealed the win with a three set thriller in line #1.
The Rattlers are led by Oskar Irdoja, who has been nearly perfect in LSC singles play this season. Irdoja posted a final record of 11-3 on the year and went 7-1 in LSC play.
In doubles, it has been the pair of Jake Faryniarz and Ryan Koth who have led the way, posting a record of 6-1 on the season and 5-1 in LSC play, all in the #1 line.
NEXT ON THE SLATE
The winner of Thursday's match will then move on to face the winner of #2 seed UT Permian Basin and #7 UAFS on Friday at 1 p.m.

th, with the top four teams each competing at two separate regional sites to qualify for the NCAA Round of 16 to be held in Altamonte Springs, Florida May 20-25.
