Patriots Tennis Set for Home LSC Action

The Patriots will play host this weekend as they welcome Cameron and UAFS at Summers Tennis Center.

LAST TIME OUT
 
Last weekend, both programs played just one match, a road LSC contest against St. Mary's. On the women's side, they fought tough, but ultimately fell 5-2 on the day. For the Patriots men, they played a dramatic match that came all the way down to the sixth and final singles match before Joaquin Bianchi played the role of hero and completed the Patriots 4-3 win.
 
SPECIAL SATURDAY
 
On Saturday, the Patriots tennis program will be hosting Alumni Day, where they encourage all former players to come hang out with the team and watch the Patriots play.
 
In addition to Alumni Day, Saturday will also double as Senior Day. The Patriots will recognize Egor Shestakov, Yudai Watanabe, and Muskan Gupta at the conclusion of the days play with a ceremony beginning at approximately 2:30.
 
NATIONALLY RANKED
 
This week, the Patriots men's program was ranked 19th in the ITA Rankings. As a team, they are 12-4 on the year and 2-1 in LSC play. On the individual side, Joaquin Bianchi is ranked 22nd overall in singles at a record of 10-3 while Shestakov is ranked 58th at a record of 13-6.
 
On the women's side, Muskan Gupta ranks as the 20th ranked singles player, and pairs with teammate Allison Schwartz to create the 28th ranked doubles duo in the ITA Rankings.
 
THIS WEEK'S SLATE
 
This week begins with a matchup against Cameron on Friday at 11 a.m. for both programs. On the men's side, the Aggies are 4-7 and 2-1 in LSC play. They are winners of their last two matches, victories over Western New Mexico and UAFS.
 
On the women's side, the Aggies are 7-6 overall and 4-1 in LSC play and they are ranked #31 in the latest ITA Rankings. They have won their last four matches, taking down Texas A&M-Kingsville, UT Permian Basin, Western New Mexico, and UAFS.
 
On Saturday, the Patriots will face off with UAFS for Alumni Day / Senior Day with matches beginning at 11 a.m. The men's side is 2-8 on the year and 1-2 in LSC play, having lost their last two matches to UT Permian Basin and Cameron. They are led in singles by Juan Rosello, who posts a 5-5 record in the #2 line. In doubles, it is the pair of Anis Ramchane and Killian Darneaux, who are 8-1 on the year, all in the #1 line.
 
For the Lions women, they are 3-14 on the season and 1-4 in LSC play. They are also on a two match losing streak, falling to UT Permian Basin and Cameron. They are led in singles by Arianna De Bernardo, who is 5-11 on the season. In doulbes, it is the pair of Camila Romero and Taylor Conway, who is 4-11 on the year.
