FORT WORTH, TEXAS – UT Tyler closed out the regular season at the DBU Old Glory Gallop on Saturday morning and will now turn their attention to the upcoming Lone Star Conference Championships.
The Patriots men's team matched last year's performance with a seventh-place finish, totaling 210 points. They ranked second among LSC programs, finishing behind only host DBU, who tallied 125 points.
Freshman Grayson Williams led the way for UT Tyler, placing 19th overall with a time of 24:37.25. Williams sat in 21st at the 2K split (6:18.91), dropped to 57th at 5K (15:54.88), and surged late to climb nearly 40 spots over the final kilometers.
Behind him, David Soto earned 36 points with a time of 24:58.43, narrowly edging Chris Kopecky, who finished in 25:03.35 for 43 points—nearly 20 seconds faster than his performance in last year's meet.
Rounding out the scoring group were Austin Ponder (25:11, 50 points) and Dylan Navarette (25:31, 63 points). Additional UT Tyler finishers included Isaiah Colorado (91st, 25:50), Andres Rios (95th, 25:52), Kason Miles (102nd, 25:56), Aiden Faz (107th, 26:00), and Cristian Barron (157th, 26:35).
The Patriot women turned in one of the most notable performances of the season, finishing fourth overall with 135 points—a remarkable improvement from last year's 11th-place finish and 293 total points. UT Tyler was the top LSC team in the field, with DBU the next closest at 148 points.
Sophomore standout Macy Cogburn continued her strong season with a ninth-place finish, clocking 17:52—a 12-second improvement from her 2023 time (18:04). She placed second among all LSC runners in the field.
Right behind her was Kailynn Denney, who earned 16 points and ran 18:05, improving by 35 seconds from last year's mark.
The next trio of Patriots all finished within nine seconds of one another to secure crucial points for UT Tyler. Finley Hunting led the pack with a time of 18:29 (32 points), followed by Gracie Ladner at 18:33 (37 points) and Adison Richard at 18:36 (41 points). Impressively, Cogburn, Denney, Hunting, and Ladner all finished in the same order as last year's meet—each improving their times from 2024.
Also competing for the Patriots were Giselle Alejandro (48th, 18:45), Calista Turner (98th, 19:31), Addison Truly (156th, 20:24), and Marigold Hunter (196th, 21:00).
Next up, UT Tyler will return to the same course for the Lone Star Conference Championships on October 25, hosted by DBU.
