Patriots Earn Hard-Fought 1–1 Draw on the Road Against Midwestern State

Larixsa Plascencia’s second-half strike highlights another strong defensive showing as UT Tyler earns a valuable point in Lone Star Conference play.

WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS – The UT Tyler women's soccer team earned another hard-fought result on the road, drawing 1–1 against Midwestern State on Sunday morning in a tightly contested Lone Star Conference matchup. The Patriots struck first late in the second half, but a quick Mustang equalizer ensured the teams shared the points in a physical, end-to-end battle.

The opening 45 minutes featured steady possession exchanges and strong defensive shape from both sides. UT Tyler's back line stayed composed under pressure, limiting Midwestern State's opportunities inside the box, while the Patriots generated several forward pushes throughout the field. Despite 15 combined shots in the first half, neither side found the mark, and the game remained scoreless heading into the break.

The Patriots broke through in the 75th minute when Larixsa Plascencia delivered a decisive finish into the upper corner following a sustained attacking sequence. The goal energized UT Tyler's attack, which continued to test the Mustang defense with well-placed crosses and attacks. However, Midwestern State answered just minutes later off a corner kick to even the score at 1–1.

Both teams pushed for a winner in the closing stages, with the Patriots' midfield maintaining possession and creating chances through combination play. UT Tyler logged 10 total shots, four of them on goal, while matching the Mustangs with three saves apiece. The Patriots held a clean defensive line to deny multiple late threats and preserved the draw through a disciplined final stretch.

Head coach Stefani Webb's squad continues to showcase grit and composure, particularly in conference play where every point matters. The result moves UT Tyler to 9-2-4 overall and 6-2-4 in Lone Star Conference competition, keeping them well within contention near the top of the standings. With another result earned away from home, the Patriots have now collected points in 8 of their last nine matches.

UT Tyler will return home next week to host Eastern New Mexico at the Citizens First Bank–Perkins Soccer Complex, looking to continue their pursuit of postseason positioning.
