TYLER, TEXAS – The UT Tyler women's soccer team opened Fall Fest with an impressive 2–0 win over Texas Woman's on Saturday afternoon at Citizens First Bank–Perkins Soccer Complex. The Patriots combined a composed defensive performance with two second-half goals to earn their sixth victory of the season.
The first half was a tightly contested battle that saw both teams searching for an opening. Texas Woman's held a slight edge in offensive pressure, registering four total shots with two on goal. UT Tyler's defense remained organized, turning away each opportunity and keeping the visitors off the scoreboard. On the other side of the pitch, the Patriots produced three first-half shots but were unable to find the frame before halftime. Despite the even exchanges, the score stayed level at 0–0 heading into the break.
UT Tyler came out of the half with renewed energy and struck quickly. In the 71st minute, Danica Anaya provided the breakthrough the Patriots had been seeking, converting a well-placed cross from Katie Wong to give UT Tyler a 1–0 advantage. The Patriots didn't stop there—just over seven minutes later, Melissa Oliveira doubled the lead, slotting home a finish in the 78th minute to push the score to 2–0.
From that point forward, the Patriots never looked back. The back line continued to frustrate Texas Woman's and turned away every threat the visitors tried to generate. Despite being outshot 14–7 overall and 5–2 in shots on goal, UT Tyler held strong and blanked Texas Woman's for their second straight clean sheet in conference play. It also marked just the second time this season that the Pioneers had been held scoreless in Lone Star Conference action.
In goal, Robbi Curry and Emily Clark shared duties once again, each playing 45 minutes and combining for four saves to secure the shutout, with the team contributing an additional stop. Their strong defensive effort was key to holding Texas Woman's scoreless for the full 90 minutes.
The Patriots also showed efficiency in other key areas, finishing with three corner kicks to Texas Woman's four and matching their opponents with seven fouls apiece. While the Pioneers controlled more of the possession and generated more shots, UT Tyler's precision and composure in the attacking third proved to be the difference.
With the victory, UT Tyler improves to 6–1–2 on the season and continues to build momentum in Lone Star Conference play. The Patriots kicked off Saturday's Fall Fest with a decisive win and now move to 3–1–2 in conference, which is good for fifth place in the standings. UT Tyler will be back in action at home next week, hosting Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
