TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler tennis continues to set a new standard each year, and this fall is no different as two doubles pairs and a singles player will represent the Patriots at the ITA Cup from October 16-19.
The doubles pair of
Yona Bancarel and
Natalia Gorzny become the first women in the Division II era of the program to earn a spot at the ITA Cup. The pair earned their at-large bid after a gritty run at the ITA South Central Regional, where they marched to the semifinals as the #1 seed.
Malo Poulesquen earns his first ever trip to the ITA Cup after a deep run in the ITA South Central Regional tournament, where he made it all the way to the semifinals in the singles draw. The sophomore from Genoble, France becomes just the fourth player in the Division II era to qualify for the tournament in singles.
Carel Wessel and
Daniil Felker make their second straight trip to the ITA Cup as a doubles pair after earning an at-large bit. The pair made their run to the quarterfinals of the ITA South Central Regional Tournament, and now become the second doubles pair in the Division II era to make back-to-back ITA Cups, joining
Gonzalo Fernandez Gil and
Joaquin Bianchi.
The ITA Cup will take place in Rome, Georgia at the Rome Tennis Center on October 16-19. The tournament represents the only singles and doubles national championship event at the Division II level.
