TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler women's basketball moved to 4-3 on the year with a dominant 115-32 win over Dallas Christian on Friday afternoon while setting new program records in three pointers made, assists, and steals.
The Patriots collected 34 assists, 36 steals, and buried 21 three pointers to set new benchmarks all over the record book as a team. Individually,
Mileina Sablinskaite set a new program record with 12 steals in one game on her way to a 10 point, 12 rebound, 12 steal triple-double.
UT Tyler got off to a scorching start, going 6-for-6 from deep over 3:14 of game time to take an 18-5 lead. Four different players made a three in the stretch, and
Mariah Neal and
Hayley Cumming would make two each. That run kicked off a 34 point first quarter as nine different players entered the scoring column while dishing out 11 assists and grabbing seven steals.
Nine players again scored in the second quarter as the Patriots kept the pedal down, dishing out 10 more assists and grabbing 12 steals as they shot 48% from the field and 33.3% from deep in that frame alone. Cumming would add two more three pointers while
KK Bass came in off the bench with seven points to lead all scorers in the period as UT Tyler took a 65-18 lead into halftime.
The Patriots got rolling again in the third quarter, outscoring the Crusaders 25-9 in the frame. Bass again had another strong effort off the bench, scoring seven more points as the Patriots recorded seven more assists and 10 more steals. The big sequence came in the final three minutes, as Bass, Neal, and
Nikolina Vukcevic each buried a three pointer in only 1:05 of game time.
With the win all but secured, the Patriots tacked on 25 points in the final period of play, shooting 62.5% from deep and 42.9% from the field as they closed the game on a 20-1 run over the last 7:09.
The Patriots forced 50 turnovers on the day while only committing 10. Of their 45 field goals made, 34 came via an assist. They held a 56-13 bench points advantage and a 44-10 advantage in points in the paint.
The record breaking day will set the Patriots up for their first Lone Star Conference action of the season next week. They will travel to Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville next week. They face the Dustdevils on December 4
th at 5:30 p.m., and the Javelinas at 1 p.m. on December 6
th.
