Patriots Battle to 1-1 Draw at UT Dallas, Turn Focus to First-Ever Division II Postseason

Brooke Mullins’ late equalizer highlights resilient finale as UT Tyler heads into the Lone Star Conference Tournament with momentum.

RICHARDSON, TEXAS - The UT Tyler Patriots closed out their regular season with a determined 1-1 draw on the road against UT Dallas on Tuesday evening in Richardson, Texas. The result brought the Patriots final regular season record to 10-2-5 overall and 7-2-5 in the Lone Star Conference, securing a strong finish to a memorable year. With the regular season now complete, UT Tyler turns its focus to the Lone Star Conference Tournament — marking the program's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II postseason.

The opening half was a tightly contested battle, as both sides worked to find rhythm in possession. The Patriots showed composure and discipline early, controlling stretches of play in the midfield and creating a handful of promising attacking opportunities. UT Tyler's back line stayed organized throughout, limiting the Comets' offensive looks and keeping the match scoreless through the first 45 minutes.

Early in the second half, UT Dallas managed to break through and take a 1-0 lead. Despite falling behind, the Patriots continued to push forward with determination, maintaining possession and steadily increasing the pressure as the match wore on.

Their persistence paid off in the closing minutes. In the 88th minute, Brooke Mullins provided the crucial equalizer, finding the back of the net off a well-placed assist from Ella Anderson. The late strike energized the Patriots and ensured that they would not leave the regular season finale empty-handed.

Over the course of the match, UT Tyler dictated much of the action statistically, outshooting UT Dallas 20-7 and earning five corner kicks to the Comets one. The Patriots depth proved valuable, with contributions from several players off the bench helping sustain energy and momentum throughout the contest. Goalkeeper Emily Clark made key saves to keep the Patriots within reach, while the defensive unit held firm in key moments to preserve the draw.

The match also saw a few cautions in a physical second half. Savanna Clark and Melissa Oliveira were each shown yellow cards for the Patriots, while UT Tyler continued to battle through a scrappy, competitive closing stretch.

The draw reflected the character and resilience that have defined the Patriots all season. In a match that demanded focus and determination, UT Tyler once again found a way to respond when it mattered most and nail down another point in conference play. Mullins equalizer marked her third goal and seventh point of the season, while Anderson's assist extended her team lead with four assists and brought her point total to 16.

As the Patriots turn their focus to the upcoming Lone Star Conference Tournament, the schedule is expected to be released later this week. This historic postseason berth represents another milestone for the program, and the team will look to build on its momentum in pursuit of its first-ever Division II Tournament appearance.
