The Patriots host St. Edward’s in their lone action of the week in their LSC home opener and Holiday Hoopla.

HOLIDAY HOOPLA
 
December 13th will be the annual UT Tyler Holiday Hoopla, with both the men's and women's programs taking on St. Edward's. Admission will be free with canned food, and you can earn a UT Tyler beanie with a donation of a new, unwrapped toy. Activities will include free pictures with Santa, cupcakes, cookies, and hot chocolate, an ugly Christmas sweater contest, and holiday themed games.
 
PATRIOTS NOTES AND TRENDS
  • UT Tyler finished the 2024-25 season 25-5 overall and made their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance before bowing out in the first round.
  • Last season the Patriots finished 13-1 on their home floor, raising their mark to 61-8 under head coach Rebecca Alvidrez inside the Herrington Patriot Center prior to the 2025-26 season.
  • In the last four seasons (including 2024-25), the Patriots are a combined 31-13 in non-conference matchups, including a 12-3 record at home in non-conference games.
  • Head Coach Rebecca Alvidrez is now 112-54 all time in her four season career, and she is 103-35 in her time at UT Tyler.
  • Coach Alvidrez won her 100th career game on January 30th, 2025 as the Patriots took down Cameron. It took just 148 games for Alvidrez to reach the milestone, and she is now in her fifth season as a head coach.
  • Alvidrez won her 100th game at UT Tyler on November 14th, 2025 as the Patriots took down CSU Pueblo. She took 133 games to reach the feat and is the winningest coach in UT Tyler program history.
  • The Patriots will bring back just five players, including All-LSC Honorable Mention player Polina Latysheva, along with Mileina SablinskaiteMariah NealKK Bass, and Zionna Barbee.
  • Joining the Patriots will be freshman newcomers Leila DavisHayley CummingMackenzie MitchellGeorgia TomkinsEdit MerivirtaAvery AlcarazJorja Hart, and Salome Svani. The transfer class includes Lilli Hakkarainen and Nikolina Vukcevic as they all look to make a big impact on the Patriots this season.
  • The Patriots are 5-4 through nine games while shooting 38.2% from the field and 31.1% from deep while grabbing 33.7 rebounds per game and forcing 24.3 turnovers per game.
  • Hayley Cumming leads the team at 12.6 points per game after exploding for 27 points and seven made three pointers on Saturday against Texas A&M-Kingsville. She is shooting 35.7% from deep while adding in 24 assists and a team-high six blocks. Polina Latysheva is scoring 10.9 points per game while leading the team with 31 assists, and Mileina Sablinskaite leads the team in rebounds at 6.3 per game and in total steals with 33.
 
CONFERENCE ATTENTION
 
In the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, the Patriots were selected #3, trailing only Texas Woman's and Lubbock Christian. UT Tyler garnered eight first place votes in the poll and 761 total points, only 15 behind second place Lubbock Christian.
 
THE 2024-2025 CAMPAIGN
 
The Patriots qualified for their third straight NCAA Tournament last season and their fourth straight LSC Tournament before bowing out in the first round in each tournament.
 
UT Tyler went 25-5 overall and 20-2 in LSC play, narrowly missing out on a share of the LSC Regular Season title. On their way to that record, they also garnered their highest ranking of the Division II era, a #4 ranking in the WBCA Poll in February.
 
THE HILLTOPPERS
 
St. Edward's is 6-2 on the year and 2-0 in LSC play after coming off wins over Sul Ross State and Western New Mexico. They have now won five straight games with their last loss coming to Fort Lewis back on November 18th.
 
They are scoring 68 points per game on 42.7% shooting and 29.8% from beyond the arc. Their opponents are scoring 64.1 points per game on 37.6% shooting and 32.4% from beyond the arc. They are led on offense by Suni Davis, who is averaging 16 points per game on 42.5% from the floor. She is second on the team in assists and leads the team in steals.
 
UT Tyler leads the all-time series at 7-3 overall, and have won each of the last seven games. Last season, the Patriots took a 60-45 win at home and a 65-54 win on the road.
 
ON THE HORIZON
 
Next week, the Patriots will host the D2 Christmas Tournament inside the HPC. Fort Lewis College, Adams State, and Maryville will take part in four games across two days on December 17th and 18th. Fort Lewis will take on Maryville on December 17th at 12 p.m., and will be followed by UT Tyler against Adams State at 2 p.m.
 
On December 18th, Adams State will take on Maryville at 12 p.m. and then the Patriots will face off with Fort Lewis at 2 p.m. to wrap up the final games prior to the new year for UT Tyler.
