Hevinder Breaks Three Point Record as #6/7 Patriots Dominate Eagles

11 different Patriots scored in the contest as they held Oklahoma Christian to just 29% from the field in the 20 point victory on Saturday.

TYLER, TEXAS - #6/7 UT Tyler women's basketball put together a total team effort on Saturday to take down Oklahoma Christian 78-58 inside the HPC.
 
Lovisa Hevinder became the UT Tyler career leader in three pointers made with 213 as she knocked down a triple with 4:05 remaining in the third quarter. She took 99 games to hit the mark, surpassing the previous record holder Makenzi May, who took 120 games to hit 212 from 2013-2017.
 
UT Tyler swept the season series behind an offensive effort that saw them shoot 47% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc as they knocked down 12 three pointers and 11 different players recorded a point.
 
On the defensive side, the Patriots held the Eagles to just 29% shooting and 29% from beyond the arc while also outscoring them in each period of play.
 
Tianna Knighton led the Patriots with 12 points on the contest as she went 5-for-10 from the field and added in a three pointer. Mileina Sablinskaite scored 11 points while knocking down three triples and adding three assists and two steals.
 
The Patriots as a team played 13 different players in the contest, all recording at least four minutes and 12 of those recording at least 10. Of the Patriots starters, just one player played 25 or more minutes in the team affair.
 
The Eagles would hang tough in the first quarter behind 50% shooting as they trailed just 15-13 through one. The Patriots lead would grow to nine points by the halftime break, but the Patriots takeover took place in the third quarter.
 
In that third frame, the Patriots shot 50% from the floor and made five three pointers as they outscored Oklahoma Christian 24-9 in the 10 minute stretch. The Patriots defense put the clamps down as they allowed just two made field goals in the quarter, with the last of those two coming at the 6:56 mark. Five different players were responsible for those five three pointers in the period.
 
The Patriots would outscore the Eagles 22-18 in the final quarter of the contest, leaning on another quarter effort that totaled 56% from the field and another three triples.
 
Lovisa Hevinder would grab a team-high five rounds, while Ella Bradly had a team-high four assists and six steals in the contest.
 
As a team, the Patriots held a 30-16 advantage in points off turnovers, 40-12 advantage in bench points, 31-5 advantage in fast break points, and a 34-10 advantage in points in the paint.
 
#6/7 UT Tyler will now look ahead to next week's matchups as they hit the road to take on St. Mary's and St. Edward's.
