Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 ORLANDO, FLORIDA – Both sides of UT Tyler tennis earned a critical ranked win against Emporia State and then flexed their muscles in dominant wins over Lewis in the nightcap.

WOMEN'S MATCH ONE: #31 UT Tyler: 5, #38 Emporia State: 2

The Patriots women faced a tough ranked matchup to begin their day as they took on the Hornets. Action began in doubles, and the Patriots got off to a scorching start as they took each match in doubles to move ahead 1-0.

Allison Schwartz and Carla Rodier earned a 6-2 win in line #1, and Natalia Gorzny and Paula Castellanos earned a 6-2 win of their own in line #3. Yona Bancarel and Kanika Sivaraman would add a 7-6 (7-4) win in line #2.

In singles, the Patriots would rattle off three wins in just over an hour, earning enough points to secure the win on the day. Those efforts were led by Sivaraman in line #5, who won 6-1, 6-3 in straight sets.

She was joined by Castellanos and Gorzny in line #4 and line #2 as they each added straight set wins. Castellanos won her match 6-3, 6-3, and Gorzny also completed a 6-3, 6-3 win.

The Hornets would take wins in line #1 and #3 to get themselves on the board, but the final point of the day would belong to the Patriots. Luisa Moraes would get into a back and forth battle, taking a 7-5 first set win before falling 6-7 in set two. That set up a third set tiebreaker, and she would run away with a 10-5 win to earn a 5-2 win for the Patriots.

MEN'S MATCH ONE: #12 UT Tyler: 4, #20 Emporia State: 3

The #20 ranked Hornets would find themselves taking the early advantage, taking the #1 and #3 lines in doubles to earn a 1-0 advantage despite Artiom Dorofeev and Malo Poulesquen earning a 7-5 win in line #2.

Despite being down, Daniil Felker would catch fire in line #4, earning a 6-0, 6-1 win as he dropped just one game in two sets to even up the match at one each.

He would be followed by Poulesquen in line #5, as he earned a 6-3, 6-3 straight sets win to pull the Patriots out in front. Martin Despodov soon followed, earning his own straight sets win with scores of 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) to put the Patriots up 3-1 and needing just one match for the win.

The Hornets would battle back however, taking lines #6 and #1 to even up the match, forcing the result down to line #2.

In that line stood Artiom Dorofeev, who split the first two sets 6-4, 5-7. That set up a deciding third set, and it would go all the way into a tiebreaker before Dorofeev came through with a 7-6 (7-4) win and the 4-3 win for the Patriots.

WOMEN'S MATCH TWO: #31 UT Tyler: 6, Lewis 1

The second match of the day would see the Patriots take the doubles point yet again, using an early retirement in line #3 and a dominant 6-2 effort by Castellanos and Gorzny in line #2 to put the Patriots out in front 1-0.

In singles the Patriots added another win via retirement in the #6 line before nearly running the table to a sweep. Elisa Buhagiar, Castellanos, and Carla Rodier finished within minutes of each other in lines 5, 4, and 3, running the Patriots total above four and ensuring the win.

Buhagiar earned a 6-1, 6-2 win, and Castellanos added a 6-0, 7-6 (7-1) win right behind her. Rodier would also earn a straight sets win, winning her match in scores of 6-1, 6-4.

The only drop for the Patriots in the match would come in line #2, but Yona Bancarel quickly cleaned up line #1, earning a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win to put the Patriots at their final score of 6-1.

MEN'S MATCH TWO: #12 UT Tyler: 6, Lewis: 1

The Patriots second match would begin similar to the first, as the Flyers earned the doubles point behind wins in the #1 and #2 lines to move ahead 1-0.

However, the Patriots would catch fire in singles, ultimately taking all six matches on their way to a 6-1 win. Carlo Kern led things off by dropping just one game on his way to a 6-0, 6-1 straight sets win in line #6, and he was followed by Arthur Miquelard in line #5 who dropped just two games on his way to a 6-1, 6-1 straight sets win.

Poulesquen would also earn a straight sets win in line #3 as he delivered scores of 6-2, 6-1, and Martin Despodov earned the fourth straight sets win as he took a 6-3, 6-4 win in line #1.

Jordi Garcia Portell was locked in a tight battle in line #4, splitting his first two sets 6-4, 6-7 (6-8). That set up a deciding third set tiebreaker, and he would roll to a 10-5 win.

Daniil Felker would also head to a third set tiebreaker in line #2 after he split his first sets 7-5, 4-6. In that tiebreaker, the two players would continue their hard fought battle before Felker ultimately closed with a 12-10 win.
