TYLER, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler women's basketball program has earned the number 3 seed in the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament as announced on Sunday night via online selection show.
UT Tyler will face off with #6 seed West Texas A&M in the first round of the South Central Region Tournament on Friday in Denton, Texas.
The Patriots will make their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, this time as their highest seed in the Division II era as they earned the number three seed.
The South Central Regional Tournament will take place March 14, 15 and 17 in Denton, Texas and will be hosted by #1 seeded Texas Woman's. The quarterfinal round will be on March 14, with the two semifinal games taking place on March 15. The regional championship will be on March 17.
UT Tyler is one of five Lone Star Conference programs in this year's regional tournament, joined by #1 Texas Woman's, #2 Lubbock Christian, #5 Eastern New Mexico, and #6 West Texas A&M. RMAC opponents #4 Colorado Mesa, #7 UC-Colorado Springs, and #8 Adams State make up the remaining member's of the field.
The Patriots will head into the NCAA Tournament with their best record in the Division II era at 25-4 on the year. The Patriots were Co-East Division Champions in the LSC regular season and make their fourth consecutive appearance in the LSC Tournament Quarterfinals.
They are the only program in the LSC or South Central region to appear in the NCAA Round of 32 or the NCAA Sweet 16 in the last two seasons and have also finished in the top three of the LSC Regular Season in three straight years.
