WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS – UT Tyler tennis split their two matches with a ranked Midwestern State program on Thursday afternoon in the first match of a two match road trip.
WOMEN'S MATCH: #23 UT Tyler: 2, #3 Midwestern State: 5
The women's match got going at 10 a.m. on Thursday, and the Patriots jumped on the Mustangs early as they took the doubles point. They would drop the #2 line, but battled back as the pairs of

Kanika Sivaraman each put together 6-4 wins to move the Patriots up 1-0.
In singles, the Mustangs battled back, taking both the #2 and #6 lines as they retook the lead. However, the Patriots rallied, as Bancarel continued her momentum with a huge 6-4, 6-4 win over the #4 ranked singles player in the #1 line.
The Mustangs would tack on another win in line #4, putting them at match point.
Allison Schwartz stood in line #5, and she would split her first two sets 1-6, 6-4, setting up a key third set. In that third set, the Mustangs would run away, earning a 6-0 win and earning the match point.
They would add one final win in the #3 line, ultimately taking a 5-2 win on Thursday.
MEN'S MATCH: #9 UT Tyler: 5, #24 Midwestern State: 2
Thursday's men's match would kick off at 2 p.m., and like the Patriots women, the Patriots men earned a big win in doubles. After the Mustangs took the #1 line, the pairs of

Malo Poulesquen and
Job Japelj /
Trevor Short would earn wins of 6-4 and 6-3 and lead the Patriots to a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
The Mustangs tied up the match with a win in the #3 line, but the Patriots came roaring back as Dorofeev took a 6-4, 6-1 win in line #2 and
Carel Wessel earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over the #13 ranked singles player to put the Patriots on match point.
That match point would come from the #5 line, as Poulesquen earned a dramatic win. He split the first two sets 6-2, 6-7 (7-9), and then responded with a huge 6-1 win in the third set to earn the win and the fourth point.
Daniil Felker would add one final win in line #4, taking a marathon 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) win in three sets to earn the fifth and final point of the match for the Patriots as they marched to a 5-2 win.
UT Tyler will now take on Cameron on Saturday as they wrap up their final road trip of the 2025 regular season.
