#3 Patriots Sweep Cameron to Wrap Up 2025 Regular Season

The Patriots put an appropriate stamp on the regular season with a pair of run-rule wins on Sunday afternoon.

TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler softball took down Cameron on Sunday by a score of 10-2 in both games, moving to 49-4 on the season and 40-4 in LSC play on their way to a share of the 2025 LSC Regular Season title.

GAME ONE: #3 UT Tyler: 10, Cameron: 2

The Patriots would fall behind early in game one, but a roaring comeback that featured runs in the second, fourth and fifth meant a run-rule win.

The Aggies got to starter Kaylee Davis in the first inning with a two run blast, opening up a 2-0 lead. However, from that moment, Davis was nearly lights out, allowing just four total baserunners over the final 6.1 innings of work.

The next two batters reach via error and a double, but Davis got a clutch strikeout to end the frame. She worked a 1-2-3 second and then allowed a leadoff single in the third before getting two quick outs and a runner left early.

Another 1-2-3 inning came down in the fourth and Davis was fully locked in. In what would be her final inning of work in the fifth, she hit the first batter, but after a sacrifice bunt and a flyout, she ended the inning with a strikeout.

The Patriots offense was quick to battle back, scoring three runs in the third to take the lead. An error, walk, and single around a sacrifice bunt loaded the bases, and Abbie Behe came in clutch with a single to right center to plate a pair of runs. The next run came just one batter later, as Alaunah Almaraz reached on an error, allowing Megan Geyer to score from third.

In the fourth, Geyer led off with a double and then moved to third and eventually scored as the next two hitters reached on an error. JT Smith would drive home another run on a groundout, and Taryn Barney drove home the third and final run with an RBI single.

The Patriots led 6-2 heading to the home half of the 5th, and quickly looked to end the contest. Sam Schott stepped up with one out and slugged a home run to left field to make it 7-2. A single and a walk set up Smith again, and she singled to center to make it 8-2.

Ka'Lyn Watson was next up and she drove home another run with an RBI single, and that brought up Barney with a chance to win. She would drill a double off the center field wall, plating the 10th and final run of the game to ensure the run-rule.

Davis threw a complete game with 5 innings, two runs, and four strikeouts to move to 16-0 on the season.

On offense, Watson, Barney, and Geyer each recorded at least two hits, while Smith, Barney, and Behe each drove home two runs in the Patriots huge win.

GAME TWO: #3 UT Tyler: 10, Cameron: 2

Game two would start extremely similar to game one, as the Aggies got out in front 2-0. After starter Cera Blanchard worked scoreless frames in the first two innings, but the Aggies got an RBI walk and an RBI single in the third to ultimately chase her from the game.

That brought in Primrose Aholelei, and she slammed the door yet again. She ended the third inning by striking out two hitters to get out of a bases loaded jam, and got out of another jam in the fourth with another strikeout.

In the fourth, the Patriots got on the board for the first time as Bailey Krolczyk drilled a home run off the scoreboard to make it 2-1. Sam Schott would follow with a double, and she came around to score as Miia Campos singled to right field.

After Aholelei twirled another scoreless frame in the fifth, the Patriots got rolling on huge rally. The first two hitters went down in order, Krolczyk doubled to right center field, and two walks and a hit by pitch would bring her home. Abbie Behe singled to center field to drive in two more, and an error would allow a third run to scamper home. Two batters later, JT Smith slugged a triple to left center field, plating two more runs as the Patriots ran the score up to 8-2 after five.

Aholelei was right back to work in the fifth by allowing another scoreless inning, setting up the Patriots for a chance at the run rule win. First up was Taryn Barney, and she barreled up a pitch and send it deep over the left field wall to make it 9-2. That would bring Krolczyk back to the plate, and she walked it off with her second blast of the game, this time a towering shot to right field.

Aholelei moved to 14-1 after going 3.2 innings in relief while allowing two hits, two walks, and striking out four.

On offense, Krolczyk led the way with a 3-for-4 day that included two homers and three runs. Smith, Campos, and Behe would also add two RBIs each in the effort.

#3 UT Tyler will now set their sights on the Lone Star Conference Tournament to be played May 1-3 in Canyon, Texas.
