RICHARDSON, TEXAS – The UT Tyler men's cross country program has been picked to finish sixth in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, as announced Thursday morning.
The poll was voted on by LSC head coaches, sports information directors, and media members.
West Texas A&M was nearly a unanimous choice for first place, earning 27 of the possible 28 first-place votes to finish with 419 points. The Buffs have claimed every LSC championship since 2013. DBU followed in second, while Western New Mexico, St. Edward's, and Texas A&M International rounded out the top five.
The Patriots were just outside the top five, landing in the sixth spot with 282 points. David Soto and Chris Kopecky were also recognized as runners to watch for the upcoming season.
UT Tyler will open its season on September 6, hosting a home meet at the Texas Rose Horse Park in Tyler.
