TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler volleyball took a dominant 3-0 win over Cameron on Friday night inside the Herrington Patriot Center as they kicked off their LSC slate 1-0.
The Patriots hit .293 for the match, including .406 and .417 in the final two sets of the night, while also holding Cameron to just .056 for the match and .071 and -0.04 for the final two sets.
Seven different players recorded a kill in the contest, and
Kota Hartman led all players with 11 kills on a .370 hitting percentage.
The Patriots started the night on a 4-0 run as
Emma Vazquez dropped in a pair of aces, and that run extended to 6-2 as
Alyson Robbins connected on a pair of kills.
The Aggies would battle back to within a point on several different occasions in the middle of the set, but a 4-0 run from UT Tyler behind kills from three different players and a
Saige Rivera ace made it 20-15. That run would evolve into a 9-3 run as
Faith Wilkins capped off the set with an ace of her own and the Patriots led 1-0.
The Patriots kept up that momentum from late in the first set over into the second set, getting a 5-0 run early as
Audrey Brandon and
Autumn Perry combined on three kills while Wilkins added another ace.
They continued to keep their thumb on the scale, ending the set on a 10-4 run that saw Wilkins, Hartman, Perry, and Brandon each tally kills as they led the offense to a .406 attack percentage with just four errors.
In the third and final set, Hartman turned it up a notch, recording three kills in the first 10 points while Vazquez and
Anna Arceneaux each tallied an ace in the same stretch.
A 6-0 run saw the Patriots lead go from 14-9 to 20-9 as Brandon and Robbins added kills while Arceneaux added another ace. The Patriots continued on their tear to end the set, seeing Hartman pick up another pair of kills while
Lesley Sanchez clinched the match with a kill to earn a 25-11 win.
The Patriots also got double digit kills from
Autumn Perry, and
Saige Rivera dished out 32 assists. As a team, the Patriots recorded eight aces, their second most in a match this season.
UT Tyler will be back in action on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. inside the Herrington Patriot Center to close out their opening weekend of LSC action.
