THE 2024-25 INDOOR SEASON
Last season, both the men's and women's programs finished fourth at the LSC Indoor Championships, with the men's result marking their best finish since joining the Lone Star Conference. The Patriots leaned on All-LSC Team and All-South Central honorees
Bracie Vaughn,
Aerin Thompson, and
Juliane Frueh to secure a significant portion of the women's points, while
Ashton Turner,
Dylan Bennett, and
Landon Smith delivered strong performances on the men's side to help propel the Patriots forward.
Thompson (400 meters) and the 4x400 meter relay team of Hannah Lakin, Kamaria Carr, Kymia Woodard, and Thompson went on to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, where Thompson placed 16th in the 400 and the relay team finished seventh. It also marked the second consecutive year Thompson qualified in the 400 meters. On the men's side, Bennett (200 meters), Turner (60 hurdles), and the 4x400 meter relay team of Caleb Williams, Wiliam Davis, Landon Smith, and Turner qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships. This was the first time in program history that multiple athletes for the men's side qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships.

THE SAMFORD INVITATIONAL/OPEN
This week's event will be hosted by Samford at the Birmingham CrossPlex on the campus of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. It marks the Patriots' second trip to Birmingham in as many years during the indoor season, with both appearances coming in the team's second meet of the year.
The Samford Invitational will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, opening with the women's weight throw and concluding the field events with the women's high jump at approximately 4:30 p.m. Track events are scheduled to start at 12 p.m. with the women's 60-meter preliminaries, followed by the men's race roughly 10 minutes later. Friday's competition will wrap up with the men's 4x400-meter relay, slated for around 5:25 p.m.
Saturday's Samford Open will follow a similar schedule, beginning at 10 a.m. with the women's weight throw and closing the field portion with the women's high jump at approximately 4:30 p.m. The primary difference between the two meets comes on the track, as Saturday's running events will start earlier at 11 a.m. with the women's 5,000 meters, immediately followed by the men's 5,000 meters. The weekend will conclude with the men's 4x400-meter relay at approximately 5:25 p.m., matching Friday's finale.
