REP THE ROSE NIGHT
 
UT Tyler will host Rep the Rose Night on Thursday night, welcoming all citizens of Tyler to help back the Patriots in their first home contest of the new year. All Tyler citizens will get free admission with ID, along with all Smith County employees, City of Tyler employees, Tyler Chamber of Commerce members, Tyler Young Professionals Network, South Tyler Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Tyler, and Sunrise Rotary Club members.
 
There will be free shirts given away, and a raffle drawing will take place to win a free night out at local Tyler businesses.
 
SOUTHSIDE BANK CUSTOMER APPRECIATION NIGHT
 
UT Tyler will host Southside Bank Customer Appreciation Night on Saturday, welcoming all employees and customers of Southside Bank to receive free admission along with all employee families. Additionally, the Patriots will have the ring ceremony for the 2025 Division II National Championship softball team at halftime of the men's game and there will be a t-shirt giveaway.
 
PATRIOTS NOTES AND TRENDS
  • UT Tyler finished the 2024-25 season 25-5 overall and made their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance before bowing out in the first round.
  • Last season the Patriots finished 13-1 on their home floor, raising their mark to 61-8 under head coach Rebecca Alvidrez inside the Herrington Patriot Center prior to the 2025-26 season.
  • In the last four seasons (including 2024-25), the Patriots are a combined 31-13 in non-conference matchups, including a 12-3 record at home in non-conference games.
  • Head Coach Rebecca Alvidrez is now 115-56 all time in her four season career, and she is 106-37 in her time at UT Tyler.
  • Coach Alvidrez won her 100th career game on January 30th, 2025 as the Patriots took down Cameron. It took just 148 games for Alvidrez to reach the milestone, and she is now in her fifth season as a head coach.
  • Alvidrez won her 100th game at UT Tyler on November 14th, 2025 as the Patriots took down CSU Pueblo. She took 133 games to reach the feat and is the winningest coach in UT Tyler program history.
  • The Patriots will bring back just five players, including All-LSC Honorable Mention player Polina Latysheva, along with Mileina SablinskaiteMariah NealKK Bass, and Zionna Barbee.
  • Joining the Patriots will be freshman newcomers Leila DavisHayley CummingMackenzie MitchellGeorgia TomkinsEdit MerivirtaAvery AlcarazJorja Hart, and Salome Svani. The transfer class includes Lilli Hakkarainen and Nikolina Vukcevic as they all look to make a big impact on the Patriots this season.
  • The Patriots are 8-6 through 12 games and are 4-1 in LSC play, scoring 58.3 points per game on 37.2% shooting and 29.4% from beyond the arc. They are holding opponents to just 50.9 points per game on 36.8% shooting and 30.3% from deep.
  • That staunch defense is one of the best in Division II, ranking 4th in scoring defense, 15th in steals per game, 19th in turnovers forced per game, and 21st in turnover margin.
  • Hayley Cumming leads the team at 11.1 points per game on 38% shooting and leads the team in blocks, total three pointers, and assists. Polina Latysheva is scoring 9.8 points per game while posting 39 steals and 39 assists.
 
THE MUSTANGS
 
Western New Mexico heads into Thursday's matchup at 0-11 on the year and 0-5 in LSC play.
 
The Mustangs are scoring 51.6 points per game while allowing 85.3 to their opponents. They are shooting 32% from the floor and 29.4% from deep while allowing 51.3% from the floor and 38.3% from deep. Individually, Jordan Sapien leads the team at 9.5 points per game on 38.3% shooting while chipping in 26 assists and eight steals.
 
UT Tyler is 4-1 all-time against Western New Mexico and are currently on a four-game win streak. They took an 88-53 win in the lone matchup last season.
 
THE LOBOS
 
Sul Ross State is 1-10 on the year and are 0-5 in LSC play. They won their opening contest of the year and have lost 10 straight since.
 
They are scoring 58.4 points per game on 31.2% from the field and 25.9% from beyond the arc. Their opponents are scoring 77.5 points per game on 45.7% from the field and 36.4% from beyond the arc. Individually, Sophiya Bustillos leads the team at 13 points per game on 33.6% shooting and adding 15 steals. Victoria Aguayo is averaging 11.6 points per game while posting 40 steals, 21 assists, and 7.7 rebounds per game.
 
UT Tyler is 13-2 all-time against Sul Ross State and are 1-0 in LSC competition against each other. The Patriots have won the last three meetings and are 6-0 in meetings that take place in Tyler.
