LUBBOCK, TEXAS – UT Tyler men's soccer dropped a 1-0 Lone Star Conference decision to Lubbock Christian on Saturday at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex.
The Patriots finished the match with a 12-11 advantage in shots, including four shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net against the Lubbock Christian defense. Niclas Becker made four saves in goal for UT Tyler, keeping the Patriots within striking distance throughout the 90 minutes.
Lubbock Christian opened the scoring in the 15th minute after finishing a chance to give the Chaps a 1-0 lead. UT Tyler responded by continuing to create opportunities, with Luis Martinez recording two shots and Landon Neely putting a shot on target late in the opening half.
The Patriots entered halftime trailing by one despite matching Lubbock Christian with six shots in the opening 45 minutes. Becker came up with three first-half saves, including stops on multiple Lubbock Christian chances to keep the deficit at one.
UT Tyler continued to pressure in the second half, recording another six shots while holding Lubbock Christian to five. Caden Naizer and Henrique Caputo each put a shot on goal, while Neely finished with two total shots and one on target.
The Patriots' defense limited Lubbock Christian to five second-half shots and Becker added another save, but UT Tyler could not produce the equalizer.
The Patriots move to 2-4-4 overall and 0-3-1 in Lone Star Conference play following the result.
