LAST TIME OUT
UT Tyler men's soccer moved to 2-4-4 overall and 0-3-1 in Lone Star Conference play after dropping a pair of conference matches last week, falling 3-0 to Midwestern State before suffering a 1-0 setback at Lubbock Christian. The Patriots hosted Midwestern State Wednesday at Citizens First Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex before traveling to Lubbock Christian Saturday for their fourth LSC match of the season.
UT Tyler battled through a scoreless opening 40 minutes against Midwestern State before the Mustangs found the back of the net late in the first half and added two second-half goals to secure a 3-0 victory. Niclas Becker kept the Patriots within striking distance throughout the opening half, making three saves before Midwestern State broke through at the 40:17 mark. UT Tyler generated more offensive pressure after halftime, recording all four of its shots in the second half. Owen Dakin and Caden Naizer each put a shot on goal, while Henrique Caputo also tested the opposing goalkeeper. Becker finished with six saves on the night as Midwestern State added goals in the 77th and 79th minutes to close out the 3-0 result.
The Patriots then traveled to Lubbock on Saturday, falling 1-0 to Lubbock Christian at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex. UT Tyler held a 12-11 advantage in shots and recorded four shots on goal, but could not find the equalizer after Lubbock Christian scored in the 15th minute. Luis Martinez recorded two shots, while Landon Neely finished with two shots and one on target. Caden Naizer and Henrique Caputo also put shots on goal in the second half. Becker made four saves, including three in the opening half, to keep the Patriots within one throughout the match, but UT Tyler was unable to produce the equalizer.
The Patriots hit the road to San Antonio Wednesday, October 7th to take on St. Marys before hosting Sul Ross State Saturday October 10th to celebrate Alumni Day.

Nyame and Coutiño lead UT Tyler with 14 shots each, followed by Luis Martinez with 15 and Landon Neely with 10. Jamie Joyce has recorded nine shots, while Casado and Yanis Lasri have each recorded seven. Neely leads the Patriots with five shots on goal, while Coutiño, Casado, Joyce and Nyame have each recorded four shots on target.
Defensively, the Patriots have allowed 17 goals through 10 matches. Niclas Becker has made 27 saves with a .750 save percentage across 539:32 minutes, while Beaux Benson has recorded 18 saves and a .692 save percentage in 360:28 minutes. Together, the Patriot goalkeepers have made 45 saves and posted a .727 team save percentage, while recording three shutouts.
PATRIOTS NEWS AND NOTES
- UT Tyler posted an 8-8-3 overall record last season, advancing to the Lone Star Conference Championship Semifinals. At season's end, Luan Rangel earned D2CCA Second Team All-South Central Region and All-Lone Star Conference Second Team honors. William Kenne and Jaxson Stovall were named to the Lone Star Conference All-Tournament Team, while Sid Cleofe, Niko Vasileiou, Luan Rangel, Hugo Marques, William Kenne and Oscar Sosa earned CSC Academic All-District honors. Cleofe was also named to the Lone Star Conference Academic Team, while Niclas Becker earned Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors on Oct. 27.
- Noe Coutiño returns for the Patriots after playing in 19 matches last season, logging 1,165 minutes while scoring four goals and adding two assists. He recorded a .429 shots-on-goal percentage.
- Head coach Kenny Jones is in his 25th season at the helm of the program. Jones, the only head coach in program history, is 250-114-67 in his tenure at UT Tyler and earned his 250th career victory against Colorado School of Mines.
St. Mary's
St. Mary's enters Wednesday's matchup with a 7-3 overall record and a 3-0 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The Rattlers are riding a three-match winning streak and have gone 4-2 at home, 2-0 on the road and 1-1 at neutral sites this season. Through 10 matches, St. Mary's has outscored its opponents 25-11, averaging 2.50 goals and 14.5 shots per match. The Rattlers have put 51.7 percent of their 145 shots on target while recording 75 shots on goal. St. Mary's has also recorded 26 assists and 69 corner kicks this season.
Defensively, the Rattlers have allowed 11 goals through 10 matches, limiting opponents to 9.4 shots per game. St. Mary's opponents have recorded 40 shots on goal, while the Rattlers have made 29 saves. The Rattlers have also converted two of three penalty-kick attempts this season. Sul Ross State
Sul Ross State enters Wednesday's matchup with a 0-9 overall record and a 0-3 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The Lobos are riding a nine-match losing streak and have gone 0-3 at home, 0-4 on the road and 0-2 at neutral sites this season. Through nine matches, Sul Ross State has scored two goals while allowing 38, averaging 0.22 goals and 5.4 shots per match. The Lobos have put 36.7 percent of their 49 shots on target while recording 18 shots on goal. Sul Ross State has also recorded two assists and 21 corner kicks this season.
