THE ITA INDOOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Patriots men took on the prestigious ITA Indoor Championships last weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Patriots dropped their opening match to #3 seed and #4 ranked West Florida, but battled back to take down #7 seed and #9 ranked Azusa Pacific in the consolation bracket. That setup a battle with #4 seed and #5 ranked Lubbock Christian for fifth place, and the Patriots delivered an emphatic 5-2 win.

RANKINGS UPDATE

The ITA updated their team rankings with their first in-season release on Wednesday, and the Patriots men moved up to #5 while the Patriots women slipped to #21. The men are 4-1 on the year with wins over then #5 Lubbock Christian and then #9 Azusa Pacific. The women are 3-0 with wins over three unranked opponents.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Â
This week the Patriots earned the LSC Men's Doubles Players of the Week award for the second straight week, now earning the award for the first two weeks of the season.
Job Japelj and
Trevor Short combined for a 2-0 week in Indianapolis, taking wins over Azusa Pacific and Lubbock Christian in a pair of strong efforts.

THE FALL SLATE

The fall slate was one of the best of the Division II era for the program, with both teams sending players to the ITA Cup. The women's pair ofÂ

Yona Bancarel became the first Patriots women to represent the program at the ITA Cup in the Division II era, and the doubles pair ofÂ

Malo Poulesquen represented the men.

Gorzny and Bancarel finished 2-1 on the week, Felker and Wessel went 1-2, and Poulesquen also finished 2-1.

THIS WEEK'S SLATE

The Patriots will face off with Harding and Southern Arkansas on Friday and Saturday at Summers Tennis Center. The women will play both of their matches at 10 a.m. with the men following each day at 11:30 a.m.

The Harding men are currently ranked #24 in the latest ITA Rankings. They are 4-0 overall and have yet to allow more than one point to an opponent this year. Most recently, they took a 7-0 win over conference foe UAFS. They have three men's players that are 3-0 in singles, and Edoardo D'Arrigo and Sebastian De La Salas are 2-0 in doubles.

The women's side of the Bisons is 1-1 on the young season and most recently took a 6-1 in over UAFS for their first win of the season. Brooke Coffman is 2-0 in matches this spring and pairs with Karli Roux for an undefeated record in doubles action.

Southern Arkansas men are 1-1 on the year with a 7-0 win over UT Dallas and a 2-5 defeat to Cameron to begin their season. Balsa Djokovic leads the program in singles, battling to a 2-0 record thus far. He pairs with Taiki Minamino in doubles, also delivering a 2-0 record in those matches.

The women stand at 1-2 overall with a 5-2 win over UT Dallas and losses to Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State. A trio of players stand at 1-1 so far in singles, with Emilie Senepart the only player undefeated at 1-0. In doubles, Senepart and Jolina Mass are the lone undefeated duo, going 1-0.
