THE ITA INDOOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Patriots men took on the prestigious ITA Indoor Championships last weekend in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Patriots dropped their opening match to #3 seed and #4 ranked West Florida, but battled back to take down #7 seed and #9 ranked Azusa Pacific in the consolation bracket. That setup a battle with #4 seed and #5 ranked Lubbock Christian for fifth place, and the Patriots delivered an emphatic 5-2 win.

RANKINGS UPDATE

The ITA updated their team rankings with their first in-season release on Wednesday, and the Patriots men moved up to #5 while the Patriots women slipped to #21. The men are 4-1 on the year with wins over then #5 Lubbock Christian and then #9 Azusa Pacific. The women are 3-0 with wins over three unranked opponents.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

This week the Patriots earned the LSC Men's Doubles Players of the Week award for the second straight week, now earning the award for the first two weeks of the season. Job Japelj and Trevor Short combined for a 2-0 week in Indianapolis, taking wins over Azusa Pacific and Lubbock Christian in a pair of strong efforts.

THE FALL SLATE

The fall slate was one of the best of the Division II era for the program, with both teams sending players to the ITA Cup. The women's pair of Natalia Gorzny and Yona Bancarel became the first Patriots women to represent the program at the ITA Cup in the Division II era, and the doubles pair of Daniil Felker and Carel Wessel along with singles player Malo Poulesquen represented the men.

Gorzny and Bancarel finished 2-1 on the week, Felker and Wessel went 1-2, and Poulesquen also finished 2-1.
