TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler tennis continues to sit inside the top programs in the country as the men rank #5 for the second straight week and the women climb one spot to #20.
UT Tyler men's tennis wrapped up a 2-0 week last week in which they took down #24 Harding and Southern Arkansas at Summers Tennis Center. The Patriots are now 6-1 overall on the season and have won four straight matches.
Barry, West Florida, Flagler, and Washburn make up the top four teams in the ITA Rankings, with the Patriots rounding out the top five. Lubbock Christian ranks just behind at #6, and fellow LSC opponent #24 Midwestern State is the other ranked LSC program inside the top 25.
On the women's side, the Patriots climbed one spot to #20 this week after their own 2-0 weekend with wins over Harding and Southern Arkansas.
Barry, West Florida, West Alabama, Nova Southeastern, and Embry-Riddle make up the top five in the latest rankings. #12 Midwestern State and #13 St. Mary's also make up LSC teams that are represented on the rankings.
UT Tyler stays at home this week as both teams begin one of their toughest stretches, if not their toughest stretches of the season. The men will face off with #2 West Florida on Friday, a team they have played against once this season. They follow that up with matches against West Alabama and Auburn-Montgomery, and then face off with three consecutive ranked opponents.
For the women, they face one of the toughest schedules in the country as they face six consecutive teams inside the top 25 over the next few weeks. That begins this weekend as they face off with #2 West Florida, #3 West Alabama, and #25 Auburn Montgomery, all at the Summers Tennis Center.
The Patriots will face off with West Florida, West Alabama, and Auburn Montgomery all at 10 a.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Summers Tennis Center.
