TYLER, TEXAS – UT Tyler tennis was nearly perfect on Sunday as each team picked up a 7-0 win over UT Permian Basin in LSC action at the Summers Tennis Center.

The Patriots from the jump had control of the contest, with
Yona Bancarel and
Natalia Gorzny combining for a 6-1 win in just 23 minutes to start the contest.
Maria Antonio Ortega and
Paula Castellanos followed just eight minutes later with a 6-2 win, ensuring a 1-0 lead.
Sabrina Pugh and
Emily Ryan added a big 7-5 win in the #3 line, earning a sweep for the Patriots.
Over in singles, the Patriots poured it on, with just two matches taking over 60 minutes to reach their conclusion.
Claudia Di Leonardo came first, taking just 49 minutes to dispatch her opponent 6-1, 6-0.
Luisa Moraes followed up that effort with a 6-1, 6-2 win in line #6, and Bancarel put the finishing touches on a 6-1, 6-2 win of her own in line #1 to ensure the fourth point and the win for the Patriots.
Castellanos added a 6-0, 6-2 win in line #4, and Gorzny took a 6-0, 6-4 win in line #2 to make it 6-0 with one match on the court.
Antonio Ortega dropped her first set at 5-7, but responded with a 6-1 rout in set two to force the tiebreaker. There, she kept up the momentum with a 10-5 win to book the seventh point for the Patriots.

Over in the men's match, the Patriots had to work a little harder to get their doubles point. After a 6-2 win from
Daniil Felker and
Carel Wessel in line #1, the Falcons answered with a 6-4 win in line #3. That set up
Malo Poulesquen and
Artiom Dorofeev to clinch the point, and they pulled off a gritty 7-6 (7-2) win to make it 1-0 heading into singles.
Like the women, the Patriots men would pour it on in singles, beginning with
Samuel Antwi. He delivered a 6-2, 6-1 win in line #3, doubling the Patriots lead.
Just 14 minutes later, the match would be secured, as Felker and
Jordi Garcia Portell capped off straight sets wins to put the Patriots up 4-0. Felker won 6-3, 6-1, and Garcia Portell won 6-1, 6-2.
Artiom Dorofeev would add a 6-3, 6-4 win in line #1, and
Artiom Dorofeev in line #6 responded to a 4-6 dropped first set with a 6-0, 1-0 (10-5) cruising to put the Patriots up 6-0. The final point would come from Poulesquen, who split his first two sets at 6-4, 5-7 before a 1-0 (10-7) tiebreaker win to book the sweep.
The Patriots tennis program will next host Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday to wrap up their non-conference slate for the year. The women will begin at 10 a.m. and the men will follow at 1 p.m.
